Hello. I don't know what i have done but something of my lights don't work. The direction lights when you turn the wheel driving and the cornering lights while you are driving slow don't switch on. Could you please explain me the codification for that. Sorry for my english. I hope you have understood my question. Thank you biel: Hi - sorry to read that you are having problems. The way that the cornering lights operate on your car varies dramatically according to the equipment levels (i.e dynamic cornering, or static cornering) and the coding arrangements in the control module that OBd11 calls Central Electrics (@ address hex09). Since I assume that the cornering function did work on your car - and now it no longer works - I suggest that you look through the History report. Not sure if you are familiar with this facility, but the History report can be accessed from the My Garage tab. When you access the History report, press the envelop symbol on the top RHS and email yourself a copy (see below). It's much easier to read if you print a copy - look for any changes that were made to the cornering light function on the Central Electrics module, or paste a copy of the report on this thread and someone here will look through it Don

I'm very happy with the result. Btw don, any possible to enable coming home and leaving home feature without auto switch in my mk7? And enable cornering light in my headlights? Thanks don! ^^ Gerry: Well done-I'm glad that the tweak worked for you! I'm adding information to my database about retro-fitted HID units on mk7 that seem to be trouble-free. Can you provide details of the headlight units that you installed - please As for your other questions: Cornering lights in HID fittings: As I said previously, there seems to be many ways that these Chinese units are wired internally. Perhaps someone here knows the answer to this, but I have never found a way of making these work for the cornering function. The wiring diagram for OEM fittings shows that the VW units use a special control module (VW call this J745) that performs this function. In the factory units, this activity is controlled over the CAN bus (i.e. cornering is managed by digital messaging sent via the CAN network). Halogen headlights don't have a connection to the CAN bus. In cars with Halogen headlights, cornering lights are enabled via the fog lights (it's called "static" cornering - the fog light on the side of the car that is turning is energized). So- long way of me saying I don't know, but I think that it's not possible!! Coming Home (CH) and Leaving Home (LH): You need to have an AUTO position light switch (with light sensor) for LH, but this isn't required for CH. Here's the screen shot for the set-up for CH (see the top part of the picture only): I have CH enabled on my mk7 (using the driver's door), but the screenshot was taken from my test-jig (see screenshot below) so it shows the trigger as "ignition" - I'm still trying to get this function to work this way because I don't currently have a simulation for a driver's door on my test-jig. Few points to make about the screenshot:
- Coming Home Verbaustatus this channel determines whether you have to manually engage CH (with the high-beam lever), or whether the function is automatically enabled
- Menuesteuerung Coming Home Werkseinstellung this channel places the CH function on the menu screen
- Menueeinstellung Cominghome this setting determines the time delay before the CH lights switch-off (this can be set in the menu also)
- Coming-home Einschaltereignis this determines which switch-on mechanism will trigger CH - if you choose "driver door", then CH will be energized when you open the driver's door (not surprisingly)
- Coming Home Leuchten this setting determines which lights will be used - choice is "low beam" or "fog" (or "not active")
Switch-on procedure for CH
- Make sure that CH is enabled on the MENU
- Switch-off the ignition
- Pull-forward the high-beam stalk momentarily (for about 1 second)
- If you set-up the trigger channel as "driver door", then the lights that you selected will come-on when the driver's door is opened
- The time-delay (i.e. 10 seconds in my screenshot) starts to count-down when the last door is closed on the car (inc. the hatch)
Don PS: here's my test-jig (my virtual mk7!) - I use it to teach students Leuchte-programming Don, CH worked with low beam or with DRL? I want to code CH but with DRL. I have chinese retrofit headlights like Gerry. I'M been waiting for your answer. Thank you!

Gerry: I've had lots of questions about retro-fitted Chinese fittings in the past. Many of these fittings can not be altered with Leuchte programming because they have internal wiring that makes them operate in a particular way. Not sure if your fittings will be the same, but you could try the following: If you want the DRLs to illuminate to 100% with low-beam lights:- Search for Leuchte4TFL LB4
- Select Lichtfunktion B 4 Only if the existing setting is not active, change to Abblendlicht links
- Search for Leuchte5 TFL RB32
- Select Lichtfunktion B 5 Only if the existing setting is not active, change to Abblendlicht rechts
PS: don't confuse Abblendlicht links/rechts with Abbiegelichts links/rechts - they are very different commands If you want DRLs to illuminate to the same level as Parking lights (which is 31% as set in OEM halogen fitting) with low beam:- Search for Leuchte4TFL LB4
- Select Lichtfunktion C 4 Only if existing setting is Standlicht vorn (Positionslicht; Begrenzungslicht) change to Standlicht allgemein (Schlusslicht; Positionslicht; Begrenzungslicht)
- Search for Leuchte5 TFL RB32.
- Select Lichtfunktion C 5. Only if existing setting is Standlicht vorn (Positionslicht; Begrenzungslicht) change to Standlicht allgemein (Schlusslicht; Positionslicht; Begrenzungslicht)
Don
Hey Don sorry to revive this old thread but I've purchased some of these replica Chinese headlights for my golf mk7 and I've been trying out some of your coding options above and it works as you've stated above with the 100% drl and dipped beam, just wondering if I could possibly have it at 50% with dipped beam? I tried your method above for 31% but for some reason my DRL lights become virtually non existent in on of the Us on the driver side but flickers and the other side looks half lit but very inconsistently. I'm not sure how best to proceed with this and would very much appreciate your advice on this. Thanks in advance!

^^^i13z: Hi. If you have followed the 2nd set of instructions, the illumination level is determined by the Dimmwert CD channel on each Leuchte-set. As I said, the factory value is probably 31, but just experiment with values that are stable with your fittings
Don PS: you should be aware that whatever value you decide to use on the Dimmwert CD channel will also apply to the illumination level for whatever function is programmed on Lichtfunktion D (which is normally Single Sided Parking-lights)

Thank you for the swift response Don, I was scratching my head for hours yesterday, trying different codes e.t.c
Also when playing about with the settings one thing I noted with my existing programming was that Leuchte4TFL LB4 and Leuchte5 TFL RB32. Lichtfunktion C 5 & Lichtfunktion C 4 were not set on existing setting as "Standlicht vorn (Positionslicht; Begrenzungslicht)" they were originally set to "not active" in my car.
I changed then both to Standlicht allgemein (Schlusslicht; Positionslicht; Begrenzungslicht) and have since reverted it back as I couldn't notice any visual difference.
So to clarify do I need to clear coding from Leuchte4TFL LB4 - Lichtfunktion B 4 & Leuchte5 TFL RB32 - Lichtfunktion B 5 from Abblendlicht links/rechts and then set C4/C5 to add stated above and continue to adjust dinnwert cd for respective Leuchte 4 and 5 channels until a stable light output is achieved from DRLs when dipped beam runs?
Look forward to hearing from you as i'm excited to try it out!

^^^ yes - but since C4/C5 were not active, I suspect that Dimmwert CD will be set to 0 by default.

Hey Don, A quick update in relation to the above with some results and feedback. I've posted some shots of the headlights tonight with the before and after coding. Before: Active settings used:Leuchte4TFL LB4 Lichtfunktion B 4 Abblendlicht links Leuchte5 TFL RB32 Lichtfunktion B 5 Abblendlicht rechts After:Coded above B4 and B5 settings to "not active" Set Leuchte4TFL LB4 Lichtfunktion C 4 from "not active" to Standlicht allgemein (Schlusslicht; Positionslicht; Begrenzungslicht) Leuchte5 TFL RB32 Lichtfunktion C 5. from "not active" to Standlicht allgemein (Schlusslicht; Positionslicht; Begrenzungslicht)
Leuchte5 TFL RB32-Dimmwert CD 5 from 0 to 50 Leuchte4TFL LB4-Dimmwert CD 4 from 0 to 50I then went on to adjust the dimmwert cd values for each respecive drl from 50 incrementally upto a 100 and it made no apparent difference to the DRL brightness - it stayed the same as the above image on dimming. I even re-enabled my wink setting to see if it behaves any differently but when wink is active and the indicators are flashing, the leds would dim to the same state as the above image. I'm not entirely sure what i need to troubleshoot or where I need to go next, was hoping you or someone else who has had this issue previously could help with any ideas to workout a solution together, look forward to hearing from you.

^^^ So - I apologize for repeating this countless times, but it's extremely difficult to be precise about after market lights because they vary greatly. What is absolutely clear is that ALL LEDS ARE NOT CREATED EQUAL!!
Importantly, the ciruit design for the management of electrical current to the actual Light-emitting-diode can be (and often is) a limiting factor. The Central elect module @ address hex09 uses Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) to control dimming to the 35 x exterior lights on a mk7.
The frequency of the modulation process is determined by the setting that is selected for the Lasttyp channel in the Leuchte-set: for LED settings it's about 200 hz and for incandescent lamp settings, its about 100 hz. The circuitry that's inside the retrofitted headlight assemblies must be compatible with these frequencies - I suspect that your fittings are not compatible! Incidentally - did you change the Lasttyp channel to an LED setting when you retrofitted the headlight assemblies? Don

I haven't changed the lastypp channel to LED? - these were marketed to me as plug and play and so i literally swapped the halogen units out with these, and coded in the above settings. Would changing the lastypp type affect the other bulbs aside from DRLs in this headlamp assembly as it's only partially LED and it still has some halogen bulbs and a HID bulb for the beam?
Apologies for making you repeat yourself - I was just wondering if anyone had the extra know how on how the circuitry and leuchte programming works for these it would be yourself, so i thought i'd give it a shot and ask.
would you recommend changing the lastypp type? - which channels is it that i need to amend and what would you recommend setting them to?
Thanks

would you recommend changing the lastypp type? - which channels is it that i need to amend and what would you recommend setting them to? Thanks Sure - give it a try. If it doesn't work - just revert the setting. Try 4 - LED Tagfahrlichtmodul Signal first (it's the setting for factory fitted LED headlight assemblies). But if this doesn't work - experiment with any of the setting options that contain the term "LED" and DRL

It didn't work, I tried multiple variants as described above. They seem to behave the same despite what I'm telling them to do, almost like my car has some coding somewhere over riding the entries I'm telling it.
It always dims to the same level of brightness unevenly but consistently despite me changing lastyp types and dimmwert settings.

Hi Rene82
Sorry for the intrusion Don.
You have to code as Don has indicated, but with the Leuchte5 TFL RB32
Greetings.
Hello wgolfmk7 Yes i did but i found another way to do it and that works

^^^^^ Gerry hello. I saw your reply on UGMAC's thread. Using the changes that I suggested for his/her car on your vehicle probably didn't work because your DRLs are wired differently to the Body Control Module (the control module that OBD11 calls "Central Electrics"). If you originally had halogen headlights and you now have LED headlights, you must have installed new fittings (halogen headlights don't have "angel eyes" - the U shaped DRLs). You need to provide further information about the retro-fitted units Don

Hy guys. Sorry to write bere, but maybe You can help me with a problem that i have . I retrofit my led low headlights oem to ledhigh headlights with cornering oem, on my vw Touran 2016. My drl led has the same brightness in all position (only drl, with low Beam, with turn signal). In all position is the same . I read that when drl led function Alone should be 100% , is from factory setting. But on my car is low brightness in drl position. How can i active IT to be 100% in drl position ?? I want to mention that the headlights are working perfectly, no error on board, i can activate drl or dezactivate, i can also nake to work with turn signal/ low beam etc...BUT I CANT TO SET THE BRIGHTNESS. IT REMAINS AT SAME LEVEL ..AND IT IS A LOW LEVEL OF BRIGHTNESS, SUCH IT SHOULD BE WORKING WITH LOW BEAM.

At first i have led low headlights oem like in first picture and then a specialist made the retrofit (is not an easy one this retrofit) and install the led high headlights oem with cornering. he made all the changes on wires as they are in the oem vw touran 2016 diagram . at the first headlights i had also drl as 2 spot (you see them in pictures) and now the drl stand light but i cand change / adapt/ coding them to work propriertly . they have a low brightness, are lighthing the same as drl, the same brightness with turn signal, with low beam. i try to change some values on leuchte 4 and 5 but they not change. Like something is stocked . Like something must be switch from inactive to active so i can chande brightness

DonHi Don, I had the same gerrymk7's request (I think same car and same retrofitting LED from China). Following your above istructions, I have now DRLs 100% on with low-beam lights. I tried to change also the second set of instructions, in order to have low DRLs power with low-beam lights, but I have a different default value. For example, you wrote: Select Lichtfunktion C 4 Only if existing setting is Standlicht vorn (Positionslicht; Begrenzungslicht): my default value is "Blinken links aktiv (beide phasen). I tried to set it as per your instructions, but DRLs turns off, if I set Standlicht allgemein (Schlusslicht; Positionslicht; Begrenzungslicht). I'd like to reduce to approx 30-40% DRLs with low-beam lights. Maybe can you help me? Thanks a lot, because you already solved my main problem!

soffoco : hmmmm................ I'm not sure if you like mathematics (I do) - but there's a term that's ideal to describe the 2 x tweaks in your extract of my instructions; the tweaks are mutually exclusive but they are not jointly exhaustive!!!
Think about the 2 x situations: in the 1st tweak, the DRLs illuminate @ 100% with the low-beam and in the second the same DRLs illuminate at reduced level when the Parking Lights are switched-ON.
However, the Parking Lights are switched-ON when the low-beam lights are switched-ON, so the 2 x tweaks clash if both are implemented!!

Dear Don, thanks for your quick reply. I didn't understand very well the instructions, it seems, so I'll try to change my request. I have now the DRLs on with low beam light. Is it possible to reduce the DRLs light when they are on in this state? When they are on as daylights the power is 100% and this is ok. When they are on with low beam lights I would reduce little the power, approx reduced of 30-40%. Thanks again, and sorry for my misunderstanding.
