If you have an older car then you dont get Adaptation
on the cars I have from around 2011 I have long adaptation and long coding if you look under info you will see at the bottom of the list the Protocol is KWP2000. But be aware that different control units will have different Protocol so you may find others do have adaptation.
What car do you have

I have the same problem. When I select Gateway, I don't see "Adaptation". I have a 2010 Audi Q5. I'm new to the OBDEleven, and I have no clue as to using long coding. Appreciate some help from anyone! Thanks!

martinlaitinen I am afraid I dont have a 2013 model in my garage but if you select control unit 19 then info at the bottom of the screen is the Protocl if it shows TP2.0 KWP2000 then you will not have adaptations in your list you will have Long coding and Long adaptation this is correct for that type of protocol. vfishlmps again do as the above and if your car is older style control unit then you will have to use the long adaptation. Select the drop down list and you should be offered a number of different settings (which correspond to channels these you can change and in some cases you will have notes at the bottom of the page telling you the options you have Some examples of different screens according to the control unit protocol, and bear in mind on one car different control units can have different protocols hence different screen layouts. Current crop of VAG Cars use CAN Control Unit Info settings

Older cars have control units with KWP2000 Also note that long coding changes to Coding but the Adaptation keep that label.

So if you go to control unit 19 From the drop down list you should have something like Stop start voltage limit and or start stop activation parameters. What do they show as values.
For the Battery adaptation again from the drop down list what does this show you as options.

Still trying to understand my 2010 Q5 battery situation. I can't access the "Adaptation" function in Gateway 19...doesn't show in the control unit listing. But here is my latest question, DV52 (Australia) posted a photo showing what the battery control unit looks like, since some Audis may not have this system. Here is what my positive battery terminal looks like. It seems my Q5 may not have the control unit, in which case I don't believe I require an Adaptation of the new battery when I replace the old one. Am I correct?

Am I correct? hmm........ since you have spoken my name- I am compelled to reply, and in particular to correct a misunderstanding in your words above (which I hope was not due to my advice)
First, I'm not sure which of my posts the photograph was included - but likely it would have been on a sub-forum related to MQB platform cars. Your Q5 is probably built on a MLB platform - which is different. So, whilst it's true that the battery monitor module is a LIN slave of the "Gateway...(19)" module on MQB vehicles, I don't know if the same applies to your Q5 (probably it is the same, but not necessarily)
Second, at least for MQB vehicles, the battery monitor module is connected to the NEGATIVE battery terminal - it's not connected to the positive end of the battery. So, nothing can be concluded from your pictures - alas

vfishlmps : As I have already said, most of the stuff that put on this forum is about cars built on a MQB platform (not "MLB" - as per your Audi Q5). Anyhow - this is how to find the battery channels on MQB vehicles-
Don
If this doesn't help, please post-up a back-up for the Gateway module and I'll have a look

Don Here is what I'm getting from the OBDeleven scan: Gateway pic Control Unit pic When I click on Long Adaptation: At this screen, I don't know what to enter in order to get to the adaptation screen. Hope you can give me a suggestion? Thanks, Verlin

Verlin: In your last picture, you need to go to Channel 4 -> Battery identification. The code stored in this channel is about your old battery. Read my 2 x posts HERE (dated Dec 8, 2020 and Dec 12, 2019) regarding how the code is constructed. You will need to change the code stored to suit the BEM information on the new battery. Don
