This may have been asked before so apologies. In my MK7.5 GTI, when on either AA or ACP, if I flick the dash across to Media, I just get a basic screen saying e.g. "Android Auto" - no cover art, no track names etc.
I thought this was a VAG thing, but I was out in a colleagues late 2017 Audi A4 (so the face lift version) the other day, and we stuck Spotify on via Android Auto, and on the dash in Audi (though an analogue dash not Active info display), low and behold it came up with track names and artists etc., so this would seem to me that there is some sort of communication going on between the head unit and the dash ? I don't think the media setup on Audi's vs VW is that much different just VW's have touch screens and Audi's have a media controller.
Anyone therefore know of any coding or hack that enables the Active Info Display of a Golf GTI to display this information from Android Auto or Apple car play rather than the basic screen ?

If also love to solve this nut I’m pretty sure the nhtsa_properties stuff is just about limited certain functions inside the CarPlay interface based on vehicle speed. It’s how you can toggle the ability to use the CarPlay keyboard while driving instead of only voice for map entry etc.
I don’t think it has anything to do with the In dash display, sadly. I’m not entirely convinced that the headunit even sends the track information to the dash display during CarPlay :/
