2013 Jetta with 2L motor
The instrument/dash lights are always on and the DRL are off. I'd like to set it up so that the instrument/dash lights are not on until the headlights are switched on - it's like this on my 2007 GTI and my 2003 Jetta, the DRL are on with the instrument lights off until you turn the headlights on, then the gauges etc light up.
Right now at night with the lights on the dash automatically on my partner is forgetting to turn the headlights/taillights on so it's obviously not ideal. We're in Canada so DRL should also be on but I'm guessing it is easy to find the option to turn DRL on in the app.
Thanks in advance for reading.

DRL is enabled in module #9. You will find it in coding or adaptation (if you have the Euro headlight switch with the AUTO feature, and the rear-view mirror with the sunlight sensor). If you don't have it physically installed, then code module #9 to always keep the low beams ON (the lights stay lit once the ignition is ON). This is your best option. I'd like to set it up so that the instrument/dash lights are not on until the headlights are switched on This is only possible, YES, but not a cool thing to do in my opinion. This is defined in EEPROM, so you would have to remove, the instrument cluster, take it apart, READ the 24C64 EEPROM and change 1 bit, then flash to cluster to make it work as you want to come on with the park lights (prior to headlights coming ON where you have to turn the knob). I have a paid copy of VDOEDITOR, so if you have the exported BIN file for your cluster, I could make the change, and send the file back to you for free. This is just doing it the hard way, where you can do the forced DRL option I posted above.

Once done correctly, you can literally remove and discard your headlight switch and the lights will still be ON once the ignition is ON.
In the coding, you may see something like "Terminal 15". This means "switched ignition". That's the option you want.
