I think you have to swap out the buttons Add 2 wires to the gateway from the buttons Enable the FEC’s via Odis Add “charisma” to the 5f and gateway You also need the og gateway and mib for the servers in Germany to recognise it (although that could be old info)
Or you could just buy the package from a dealer or a retrofit company and get them to do it properly (I think xavia (or whatever his name is) has a Spanish write up on how to to it too)

Odis or maybe hack for FEC, but obdeleven can do the 5f charisma stuff

Yeah, so procedure is: *Install button *Enable SWaP via ODIS Online with activation document/key(or hack it somehow) *Create and upload dataset matching to car (ODIS, VCP and jilles dataset documentation or copying from other matching vin) *Enable driving profiles/charisma in the control units capable of driving profiles

I had the same dillema for my 2018 MK7.5 - Price for the button panel with official license code document on (Dutch) Amazon is about €157,00 with free shipping. The Cheapest (German) supplier offers this kit for €107,00 and some shipping cost but is constantly sold out. - hassle to DIY install the button panel - find someone capable enough to succesfully do the ODIS magic. Based on an advise in an other forum i called one of the VW dealers and asked for the price of the official retrofit. To my surprise the grand total for the whole official retrofit (parts, installation and coding) would come to €158,00. That's a no-brainer for me.... My only hesitation is about how i will get my car back? Probably with all unofficial retrofits like traffic sign recognition, lane assist and all MIB2 tomfoolery like carplay, performance monitor etc. removed

The official way is four steps: * Enable FeC in the backend for the VIN using the one time activation key * Reload FeCs signed and with correct VIN/VCRN into the Gateway * Download Datasets for Gateway with driving modes * Recode and Readapt all affected Control units with altered data from the server. This will delete some, but not all of your codings.
VW only sold driving profiles for a very limited number of cars with specific features. It looked for me like they could not handle the number of possible configurations.
You can stop after step 2, do your own datasets and recode manually.
Or the old/new datasets are ok (I am not that deep into that. Google jille and his work about FPA). Then it is just manual coding. Which is quite a pain with OBD11 to be honest.
I saw cars where driving profiles was retrofit by VW which did not match their requirements. It did not work out with the coding

Hi, I just bought a mk7 Golf a couple of weeks ago so I am brand new to all of this.
I replaced the stock infotainment unit with a 5GD035280B from Aliexpress to get Apple Carplay however I am unable to change driving modes anymore (the car previously had this function with the original infotainment unit).
Apparently this can be enabled on the new unit using the obdeleven (https://rcd330plus.com/showthread.php?tid=1254), my question is is there anyone in or near Coventry UK that would be prepared to do this for me? I would be happy to provide a few ££ or some beers for the use of your device and time, I just don't see the need to go to the expense of buying one just to make this one change.
Thank you

The €158,00 price offer for the driving mode retrofit I received earlier from the dealership apeared to be only for the parts+license kit. The labour & coding woud cost some €200,00 extra. I've purchased the separate kit and did the wireing my self, the wiring of the mode button is easypeasy the 3rd (ESP) button was the most tricky. I had to wire that one all the way from pin 39 of my ABS pump. According to the coding manual for ODIS the following control modules will be affected by this retrofit: - 01 Engine - 09 BCM - 13 Distance control - 19 Diagnose-interface - 44 Steering - SF infotainment. An update to these is a prerequisite for adding the 5GO 054 809 SVM I found someone capable to do the ODIS magic for me next Friday. I'm very curious what the effect of this update will be on my 5F which is succesfully patched with the MST2 Activator by Congo and Duke. In VCDS this patch shows up in a warning message, something about alternative software found... I will make a total OBD11 backup before the and after the odis coding and compare the both to see the difference. To be continued.....

Hello, I have a problem with the VRS mode button in Octavia RS 2015. The 5F unit was changed to mib2, and after that the VRS mode button stopped working, meaning you press it and it turns on and off. I researched and understood that it must be activated via ODIs. Can someone explain to me how to activate? Thank you.
