Figured I'd post this here as no support from OBD team and I solved my problems with help from mechanic friend.
Symptoms - glow warning light flashing, check engine light on, van (VW Transporter T6) in limp mode.
Diagnosis - error codes showed DPF filter sooted up.
Issue - measured and calculated soot values very high - calculated is the key one, and it was 59.98/59.99 and so both 'reg whilst driving' and 'service regen' would exit owing to 'safety reasons'.
Solution: have to fool the vehicle into thinking it can do a dpf regen when it thinks it shouldn't. Now, the safety exit is there because there is a chance that overly sooted DPF's could catch fire, so this is not officinally advised, though my friendly mechanic said he'd never had one do that. But it's not the official approach - that would be either replace the DPF (£££/$$$) or a dpf flush (££/$$) so you can try this at your own peril. I'm not recommending it - just letting you know what I did that worked for me.
Ensure engine warm (>80 oil temperature, at least ¼ tank fuel, >½ advised); ensure service warnings are off (reset as needed). All of these stop regen activities (so don't drive around with <¼ tank for ages, as it'll lead to this issue too often).
1. change mode to EOL mode
2. Basic settings - new adaptation of measured soot value
3. Start engine, clutch and brake depressed hard; release clutch then brake; full throttle for 5 s; release - let it do it's auto rev thing - took about 15 mins for me
4. Engine off, ignition on again - got to Adaptations - adaptation of ash mass - mine was 61.9 - edit to 0
5. This turned off warning lights.
6. Drive vehicle, start 'regen whilst driving' - bing sound and dpf light in dash comes on
7. Drive at decent speed with decent revs (5th not 6th) - after about 20 mins dpf light goes off
8. Re-edit ash level to old value
9. Optional - Redo 'regen whilst driving'
10. All should now be fine.
Ash level is back to what it should be (over time the dpf fills up and is eventually full of ash), the def has been regenerated and the soot levels should be low.
Both having the 'service now' lit up, and the tank low in fuel, will stop automatic regeneration, so do stay on top of those.....
