I got my OBDELEVEN today and instantly went to long coding the mirror dip. Followed instructions to a T, and threw it into reverse. THE MIRROR DIPPED! I was so excited, until it did not return... Drove it around the block to 25mph and nothing. Manually reset mirror position. Tested in reverse, no action. I checked all of the parameters and they were set correctly.
I reset all parameters, reset settings in MIB, rebooted MIB, tried applying settings again. There was no response when I put it into reverse. I reset everything again, and used the app (I figured I must have been doing something wrong), tested in reverse no action.
I saw a "configuration procedure" which I followed. Ignition on, put into reverse, switch mirror to R, manually adjust to curb, put in park, turn off ignition. It stated that the mirror should return to resting position. It did not.
I am hesitant to make any more changes fearing that I have hurt something. If anyone has any suggestions for this, I would greatly annyppreciate it, as I really want to love this device!!!
Thank you,
Ryan

Ryan, try using some credits and use the app? It worked for me on my mk7 se out of the box.

It does that unless you have electric seats, the dip and return is very hi and miss. I endedup turning it off again.

I did... It uses the same parameters, but still doesn't work. I don't know if there is a way to reset the mirror module (as I think that may need to happen...), or what to do. This is the #1 reason I got OBDeleven lol.

Not sure if you are aware (my apology if you are), but for the tweak to operate correctly, the passenger control module must have a way of remembering the original position of the mirror (the boffins at VW call these the "X" and "Y" coordinates). Not surprisingly, the way that the passenger door control module does this is via a memory module!. Not all passenger door controllers on mk7s have memory modules - so I suspect that this might be your problem!
Can you try the following process for me with your trusty OBD11 dongle to see if my hunch is correct- please?
1- Fire-up the beast and select the passenger door control module (address Hex52)
2 - Navigate through the screen shots below - which I hope are self explanatory!
Does your car have the version of passenger door controller with the memory module? Note: the X coordinate and Y coordinate values are from my car - yours might be different, but not 255 (which is FF in Hex). However, the value for Supply Voltage MUST be active and the value for install MUST be installed if the memory module is fitted.

Don, I do not have the prized memory module. Welp, at least I was able to make a lot of other changes that make me smile! Just gotta be careful with that curb! For future reference, I was reading that if you purchase folding mirrors they should also work for dip. If I were to get these mirrors, and set everything up again, would I be able to fold AND dip? That may be a worthwhile investment.. Thank you very much! And happy driving!

^ ^^^^^ Ryan: I'm aware that some folk can make the mirror dip function work without the memory module but the return position of the mirror is incorrect. Some can't make the tweak work without the module. If you have set-up the enabling variables correctly, your car clearly is in the latter category, alas.
Yes, I beleive that folding mirrors do have the memory module - but I would confirm this with the seller before you buy the system parts

Following the instructions on long coding, I was able to make it dip and auto return to the correct position on my mk7 MY16 leather seats PP, Canadian model. I checked that my car does NOT have the memory module. Weird.

I had similar issue. Just make sure you haven't activated memory mirrors and position memory with reverse gear aswell. I had it activated by mistake, mirror did work in reverse but wouldn't return and after it just stopped working. After deactivating memory mirrors an position memmory with reverse gear all worked fine.

It's in Doors Electronic Passenger Side. Codding section. Do you get fault codes when scanning car for faults

No fault code. But I checked I do not have the mirror memory so I guess it wont work. Mind is a Canadian without the tech package.

For peoples who have mirrors without memory can try this.
Switch ignition ON > Set mirror switch to R > Engage R gear > Manually move mirror to position that must be stored > Engage P gear > Switch ignition OFF > Now test mirror dip functionality

This mirror dip was the first coding I just did on my 2017 Golf R. I used the App for 10 credits (sounds like a line out of The Force Awakens) and it works as designed but you do have to go into Car settings, enable Mirror Dip and reset lights & mirrors to factory setting (as indicated in the App). I suppose this means I have the mirror memory module.

Thank you, Ryan If you did it by long coding, go back into 52 Passenger module. In Byte 04, make sure that bit 1 is NOT checked!

Thank you, Ryan _________ I basically have your same problem, except on my MY17 R I was able to get the mirror dip working with bit 2 & 3 for 2+ years. This week I tried to enable bit 1 as well to see if I could get it to come back perfect 100% of the time and since then my mirror dip has stopped working regardless of what I do. Went back to stock coding, re-did bit 2 & 3 only and nothing. No way to get it working now. Now I am looking to find out if there is a way to reset the module back to factory conditions since the stock coding certainly did not resolve that.
