Please help! I'm a noob, so I probably shouldn't have tried such a complicated coding application. Nonetheless, I am now throwing a dashboard error, due to errors in understanding the instructions below. Can anybody walk me through the steps below in a manner that is more clear? Many, many thanks!-CB
Select Control unit 5F (Information Electrical) Adaptation Select channel (63) vehicle function list BAP traffic_sign_recognition_0x21 {I had a difficult time finding this, but eventually found it...) Değer=Active Select channel (151) vehicle menu operation-menu_display_road_sign_identification {Can't find this anywhere. Where are these "channels"?} Değer=Active Select channel (153) vehicle menu operation-menu_display_road_sign_identification_over_thresho ld_high {Where is "channel 153"?} Değer=Active Control unit A5 (front / advance camera) Security access Access Code 20103 Control unit Long Coding Byte 1 Bit 0 Activate - "01 Traffic Sign Recognition (FTE) active" {Once I check Bit 0, there's no designation about TSR (FTE) active...} Select Control unit 17 (Dashboard) Control unit Long Coding Byte 5 Bit 2 Aktivate Control unit A5 (front / advance camera) Adaptation Select : channel numbers indicate end of speed limit {I did not see this anywhere, so the rest of the instructions could not be completed.} Importance to actively invest Show Valid suffix View Channel Valid suffix Corresponding value adjust default: 00100111
Again, sorry to be asking for what are likely rudimentary instructions; I am enjoying the product very much, but can't figure this one out! CB

Some subjects are Little difficult to find i also have to search them. But remember when you activate traffic sign assist you will get with 99% a failure Massage in display. I coded it with discover media and there is no connection from front camera to navi System (so i coded back). Where the points are you searching for i doesnt remember, but the points are there, just a Little tricky to find. Dont search for channel numbers, search for the channel named

CB: Hi, yes I agree that this tweak is perhaps not the best choice for your first use of OBD11!!
I can't help with the module @ address hex5A because I don't have one of these in my car, but hopefully I can get you some of the way to completion!
So - first a bit of theory about translating VCDS instructions into OBD11 speak. I wrote a thread about this as applicable to the 665 x Leuchte adaptation channels in the BCM (@address hex09) but the same principles apply to the module at address hex5F.
As a general approach when using VCDS instructions, have a look at the basic structure of the adaptation channel. For Example, in the channel with parenthesis "(63)" above, notice that it's basically in three parts like this: - the number in parenthesis (i.e. (63))
- the free flowing text (i.e. "vehicle function list BAP")
- The section linked together by the "_" symbol (i.e. "traffic_sign_recognition_0x21")
Similarly for the channels in parentheses "(151)" and "(153)" above, which both have the following structure: - the numbers in parenthesis (i.e. (151) and (153))
- the free flowing text (i.e. "vehicle menu operation")
- the section linked together by the "_" symbol (i.e." menu_display_road_sign_identification" and "menu_display_road_sign_identification_over_thresho ld_high")
So these three VCDS sections are translated to OBD11 in the following way: - the number in parenthesis is ignored and not used
- the free flowing text is what's known in database parlance as the Parent channel. After you select Adaptation in the OBD software, always search for this part first
- the section linked together by the "_" symbol is what's called the Child channel. After you have found the Parent channel as in II above, scroll down the screen and find the "Child" channel
It's that easy - just a three step process!!!
Here's the screen shots for OBD11 for your three VCDS adaptation channels in the module at address hex5F as per your post above : (63) vehicle function list BAP traffic_sign_recognition_0x21
(151) vehicle menu operation-menu_display_road_sign_identification and (153) vehicle menu operation-menu_display_road_sign_identification_over_thresho ld_high

Okay, back at this tweak again: So, thanks to Don's help, I got past my Parent-Child anxiety. The hang-up appears to occur at Control Unit A5 (Front/advance camera). Once I get through the security code, I get stuck at the Byte 1/Bit 0 spot. After checking Bit 0, the application red flags it, and says "marginal conditions not met", stopping that part of the process. I've tried a number of things to remedy this: re-scanning and clearing the fault codes, engine off programming, engine on programming--nothing helps. I've been able to proceed with all the other parts of this tweak without issue. Besides resetting everything, any other ideas? Many thanks, again!

Don, I appreciate all of your efforts on this! I will try using the new Step 9 procedure tomorrow, and report back! I got the protocol from this very website: obdeleven.proboards.com/thread/167/coding-adaptationsI think I have been using the long coding format on OBDeleven; that's when I get the "marginal conditions not met" red flag. Another thought: on the Skoda forums, there seems to have been a long discussion around Traffic Sign issues depending upon your country (?). I'm in the US, if that means anything; I know that this functionality is baked into the software for cars staying in Germany, because they draw traffic sign information from two different sources (SATNAV and country-specific VW software) . If you have a chance, take a gander at this: www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/380829-superb-mkiii-vcds-adaptations-tried-and-tested/ (go to mid-posting). Could it be that I'm asking for something that we North Americans can't get? CB

Could it be that I'm asking for something that we North Americans can't get? CB CB - OK Yes, being in the US means lots - especially where traffic sign recognition is concerned. My understanding is that the TSR facility does not use the SATNAV data that normally places the speed limit on the maps on the MIB screen. What I understand happens with TSR (which appears on the MFD) is that the front facing camera behind the rear-view-mirror reads the actual traffic sign. For TRS to work at all, the country must use the EU standard signs because they contain the decoding information for the TSR facility in the mk7. Way down here in the very deep south (in Australia), we don't subscribe to the EU standard traffic signs. I could be wrong, but I would be surprised if you guys way up there in the very far north use EU standard signs (I say this because Americans generally have their own way of doing stuff - no offense intended). So - given the problems that you are having with this tweak and given the very likely (almost certain?) scenario that even if you get the tweak working to the stage that there are no error messages, there will be no compatible traffic signs on the continent on your side of the Atlantic ocean, I respectfully suggest that you focus your enthusiasm on another pursuit that's equally difficult - like cold nuclear fusion, or perhaps finding the answer to the meaning of life and everything (I apologise for the sarcasm and again, no offense intended)!!! Finding the answer to the meaning of life love this Daniel: My tongue-in-cheek suggestion to CB to search for the meaning of life and everything was both trite and sarcastic (my apology to CB, again) because as those who have read Douglas Adam's famous book already know - the answer is 42!
However, the odd thing about this revelation is that 42 is the answer to such a very profound question, but it's not even a prime number. Real strange - clearly, whilst Mr Adams was a brilliant author, he was not a mathematician (I suspect that 42 had something to do with the fact that Mr Adams was born in 1952 and the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was first published in 1994) !!

Just spent a few hours yesterday with the dongle and notepad and have made this on the whole work. It seems there are two possible outcomes one which uses the speed camera database from the Nav system and displays this in the MFD and the other that reads the road signs, I found this out as a speed limit near me has recently changed and is wrong on the Nav database. My only issue is I get an error in the MFD saying "Road sign display restricted function" which shows once and then dismisses, but the display still reads and displays. I will try an get some screen shots of what I edited from the coding and post later this week. For info this is a UK spec GTD with Lane Assist etc.
Cheers
Rich

The navi is not showing speed limits anymore neither. Have you found any solution to this?

Do you know the good message bus in 5F -> adaptation -> BAP2 -> road sign 0x21 msg bus ? Because i’m Not sure for databus extended. After have enable sign assist I have a message missing in 5f unit and no sign display in my dashboard (but no error message in the dashboard)
Thank you so much
