Can anyone give me instructions for both versions of urban joke I have found it on google but it's in a table and doesn't make sense is it available in list format as Don usually writes?? ari: The Urban Joke tweak is quite complex and you need to be very careful in implementation. I don't think that a simple "list format" works for this tweak, but here's my translation of the VCDS instructions for Version 1 (V1) and Version 2 (V2) based in the spreadsheet HERE and based on the stock values from Mark729's first post HERE. These instructions apply for incandescent tail light fittings!!
If you have LED tails - the setting for the "Lasttyp" channel will be 35 - kombinierte LED Blink-Bremsleuchten for each of the 4 x lamps and the default dimmwert settings will be different. For LED tails, alter the "Dimmwert" values as suggested in the spreadsheet. Please note that I haven't personally implemented this tweak as it appears to be designed for non-RoW tail light fittings (we use RoW tails here in Australia)!
What's the difference between V1 and V2? The difference is the settings for the 2 x inner tail lights. I don't have NAR tails - mine are RoW, but if I'm reading the tweak settings correctly for the "inner" taillight for V1, I suspect that the counter-blinking on these lamps dim more slowly than the outer tails and they don't dim completely (because of the type of "Blinken" command used on Lichtfunktion C and because of the Dimmwert CD setting). The settings for V2 are more straight forward to read - here the blinking of the inner tails will exactly counter-match the behaviour of the outer tails and both will completely dim to zero.
The optional part of the tweak (last table) that disables the side LEDs (we don't have these in our RoW fittings) applies equally to both V1 and V2
OBD11 Instructions for Urban Joke I wrote a thread about how to translate Leuchte channel instructions from VCDS HERE. The procedure for implementing this tweak is an extended version of my thread - it's a three step process as follows:
First: Choose the version that you want to implement (i.e. V1, or V2 and perhaps the Option)
Second: Make sure that Urban Joke is compatible with the taillight fittings in your car as follows: - Using the first table for your chosen version, search for the Parent channel name
- Check that the settings for all of the Child Channels are as shown in the Stock setting column
- Repeat process above for the remaining 3 x Parent Channels
Third: Only if you are successful in confirming the compatibility of the tweak with the fittings on the car, implement the tweak as follow: - Go back and search again for the Parent Channel name in the first table for your chosen option
- Select the Child Channel to be changed
- Change the value of the selected Child Channel to the value in the New Setting column
- Repeat II. and III. for the all steps shown for the Parent Channel
- Repeat process above for the remaining 3 x Parent Channels
- AND PLEASE, BE VERY CAREFUL CHOOSING THE CHANNELS AND THE SETTING VALUES (consider having someone else with you to help check your changes) !!!!!
Finally, for those who attempt this tweak and as a result it all goes pear-shape and the brown stuff hits the fan, HERE are my brief instructions (including screenshots) for using the HISTORY facility in OBD11 to back-track your changes. I hope that no-one needs to access this link!
Don
PS: It's not relevant for anyone simply wanting to implement the tweak, but for the information of those reading this - the background colours for the rows in my tables are deliberate; these colours show the embedded relationships in the structure of a a Leuchte-set. I wrote a short-primer that defines a "Leuchte set" and that describes how I believe that Leuchte channels operate on a mk7 which can be downloaded HERE. Anyhow, the structure of a Leuchte-set is as follows (I think): - The first 3 x Adaptation channels define the set-up variables for the lamp (i.e. the type of lamp and the memory locations for monitoring)
- The remaining 16 x adaptation channels are structured as 4 x "Banks" of grouped channels (each with 4 x channels in a group) which I call "Leuchte sub-sets" in my paper
- Each Leuchte sub-set consists of an "alpha pair" (i.e. A, B, C, D, E, F, G, or H) which define the functions of the lamp (i.e. Lichtfunktion) followed by a further 2 x channels that determine the lighting level (i.e. Dimmwert) and the illumination profile (i.e. Dimming Direction)
The Central Electrics control module (@ address hex09) in every mk7 has 35 x Leuchte-sets (so, a total of 665 Leuchte adaptation channels) and each Leuchte-set has exactly the same structure as I describe above

Is it possible to have the 5 brake light and urban joker at the same time? I didn't have the option of using the app for either one because it says not compatible. So I long coded the 5 brake light, but now I would like to atempt this but before I do want to make sure it's possible. T

But the safest way is always to take a backup before you start using and then you can always easily compare and revert.
Third way is to use you History function and it will show you what you have changed.

I had to long code the brake lights, but when I tried to code the UJ V2 my lighting was goofy. I put values back to stock. Then used the UJ "fix" app, then the UJ app worked for me. Give the fix app a try, then try the UJ app.

Just finished long coding 5 brake lights and then Urban Joke on my Canadian ‘17 Alltrack using the instructions above. 100% success.

dv52 (Australia)Can you confirm if this will light up the horizontal lights under the outer taillights while using the turn signals? I enabled Urban Joke V2 (Canadian 2017 SportWagen) and I noticed that the horizontal lights flash at the same time as the inner lights. I would only like the have the horizontal lights turn on during braking like the video below. My goal is to have it looking like this:

chickenwaffles: OK - post up your values for the Leuchte-set Leuchte27NSL RC6. I need to see ALL 19 x adaptation channels. You can do this either with pictures, or you can manually list the channels

chickenwaffles : Nope - that's the wrong Leuchte-set - lets try a picture (this time ALL 19 x channels) of Leuchte18BLK HLA60

Try this:
Leuchte18BLK HLA60 Lichtfunktion A 18 > Bremslicht
Lichtfunktion B 18 > nicht aktiv
Lichtfunktion C 18 > nicht aktiv
Dimmwert CD 18 > maximum
Leuchte19BLK HRC31

aboelhassan : I'm not sure about your question - but I've included the facility in my instructions for you to determine the answer yourself! Simply compare the values in the STOCK setting column with the settings on your car (read the bit in my post entitled "Second: Make sure that Urban Joke is compatible with the taillight fittings in your car as follows:"
If the values align- then the answer is "YES" (its that easy!!! )

So I think i got UJ1 working on my 2015 egolf SE.. but it only works if the headlights/running lights are off.
I would like the rear turn signals inner and outter to flash when the head lights are on too..
any ideas on what to change?
Also how do i backup and restore these settings?
