I have been following this video guide to upgrade my 2004 mk5 golf tdi (UK) to have cruise control. I have swapped out the stalk, and re-coded the steering column from a value of 1 to 4 using OBDeleven. However, I am struggling with the re-coding of the engine. The video tutorial uses VCDS for the coding and as I am very new to OBD I am very lost. I am also hoping the car came with the cruise control cable pre-installed. Any help is much appreciated.

Can you post your existing engine coding?

I'm hoping this is what you are looking for - 0000072. I found out last weekend that all the mk5 golfs before 2006 didn't come with the cable that enables cruise control pre-installed so I'm fitting it this weekend hopefully (I've already changed the stalk).

I'm just realizing that Ross-Tech didn't publish any coding for the diesel models on the Wiki page. I'd have to get access to my associate's car to see the engine coding changes for you. Your issue is a simple fix once you run the wire and make the correct coding change.
Can you post the engine screenshots that you see in your OBDeleven interface? I don't have physical access to a diesel model currently.

I am also hoping the car came with the cruise control cable pre-installed. If your car is a 2007 and earlier, you will have to run the wiring to the ECU I still haven't got access to the 1 TDI MK5 that I'm aware of here in Jamaica to be of assistance to you.

Kindly assist here guys, my car 06mkv gti had multiple Engine misfire which 'deactivated' cruise control.
I have been following videos online to reactivate using OBDELEVEN Pro, code 11463 in the 01 control module
I cleared all codes in the 09 steering wheel Control module, but everytime I enter the 11463 I get and error message "(35) access authorization failed, incorrect login code"
What can I do next to solve this problem?
When running my engine is off, only turned ignition on.

I cleared all codes in the 09 steering wheel Control module, The steering wheel control unit is #16 Module #9 is the Central Electrics. You are only concerned about the #01 Engine and #16 for the steering wheel control module (to enable cruise control). Coding doesn't simply get lost or forgotten (unless it is the ABS unit with a ECU or instrument cluster swap). You do not need to a login code for the Engine Control Unit to do this. I'd suggest you check the live data to ensure that the brake pedal and clutch switches work, along with the button on the stalk with the cruise control. Your vehicle speed sensor needs to be working (to reflect being above 25 km/h) to enable the feature. I'll try to see if I can do a video later today with a reminder on the procedure.

Thank you so much Matthew, i had checked the break and clutch previously they were all active and the codes were reading when I engage the break on live data. I will check speed as well
I will check again, physical button on steering control are fully functional they also reflect on live data when I toggle between the buttons
I believe there is something I'm missing, I will go through what you suggested

GOLF 5 1.9
