Hi all.





So I have this problem with my AUDI. It drives fine when cold. As soon as it heats up my dashboard lights up.

I took the car in to the dealer and paid an arm and a leg and they concluded it may be the throttle body, but they are stumped. I took it off tested it and cleaned it, although it was pretty clean already.



So there is no errors till the car heats up and as soon as it heats up I can hear a click in the engine. And then I can only manage to go at 10 km/h in limp mode. Unplugging the battery for 20 minutes gets the car fully operational again till it heats up again.



When ESP comes on the engine starts shaking and running roughly.



Under the throttle body close to the DSG stronic gearbox I can hear a buzz. I unplugged the throttle body and it is not coming from it, but somewhere below which I suspect is the cause of all my woes.



I even tested the main relay and it seems to be functioning correctly.



So now that the official AUDI dealer cannot really find the problem and didn't help at all I am back to needing help.



Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Marius: Remote fault diagnostic on these forums is difficult at the best of times, but there is simply insufficient information in the (edited?) scan report to even take a guess at the cause of your problem.

This said, and based purely on your data - I'm not surprised in the slightest that the car goes into limp module if the ECU (@ address hex01) loses comms with the Steering Column Control Module, which is a vital part of the ECU's functioning data. And, if the "Restraints Control Module" fault refers to the either/both of Belt-tensioner modules - then the ECU losing comms with these important components of the car's air-bag system is also good reason to cause the car to go into limp mode.

So I will have to look at the brakes and restraints. Somewhere there is a sensor not working, but at least car runs fine again. The electronics are all inter connected. Dealer even quoted me for a new ECU. Sjoe glad I did not follow their advise.

hmm......... again, I'm not sure what help is expected when only part of the scan report is provided - it's a bit like asking the forum to guess the entire picture in a jig-saw puzzle by providing a view of just one piece!! Very limited information-IMO of course.

So, I assume your real purpose in posting is to recount your tribulations with the car as you personally work through the process of repair!

Anyhow, it's good to read that dealer's original suspicion about the trotter body was correct and that the car is now working OK
