Somehow - I can now use Waze and Audi SatNav at the sametime

Hi All,

after making all the OBDeleven changes - see prior post.
I can now use CarPlay for waze on my screen and have Audi googlemap satnav on my virtual cockpit. 
happy days. 
before, when either Waze or TomTomGo was on the CarPlay screen, only a compass would show on the VC. 
I couldn’t have both the car satnav and CarPlay satnav at the same time. 
so, I can now check the best route and see 2 options at once when the traffic is bad. 

Have I mentioned how superb OBDeleven is yet?
should have got this ages ago 
Would love to get an app for traffic sign recognition to be available for 2018 Q5 Mk2 and then my car is sorted

I puzzled over this for a long time. I finally figured out that the Audi navigation system is disabled whenever I use a map app through CarPlay (Waze, Google maps, etc) for driving directions. Canceling the destination in the app restores the Audi nav, allowing me to use both at the same time. the opposite isn't true--I can use the Audi nav for driving directions and keep the Carplay map app open at the same time.

I bought a universal CarPlay multi-media box (MMB) and turned on the video in motion (VIM) setting via the app in OBD11.

Then I could use Waze via the MMB on the car screen and it would also allow Googlemaps to be presented on the Virtual Cockpit.

As I’m using my phones internet connection for the MMB I can play that in the background and also have TomTom on the phone.
So all live mobile and fixed speedcam, traffic and obstruction in road reports from 3 different SatNav’s (Waze via MMB, Audi GoogleMap in the VC and TomTomGo on my phone) which also show the temporary speed restriction enforcement areas all in front of me.
My phone is on a screen mount above the Virtual Cockpit.


I’ve not had a speeding ticket since 👍🏻
I always rely on Waze for the best route and police mobile camera sites and TomTom for the best traffic delays.

the Audi GoogleMaps is incorrect 50% of the time with best route or traffic reports. It’s not anywhere as good as Waze to be honest.
I only use the TomTomGo app as I paid for the subscription and it has a louder alert for speed cameras.
