ricardoa3: yes and no!! No: there is no software solution for have the default status of SS to be off on ignition switch-on and then be able to turn-on SS at will. Yes: there is a hardware solution that's real easy to install to do as you want-see here

Hi Don,
Could you please repost the link from above? I don’t believe it works anymore.
Also, any chance there’s a software solution for this now?
Thanks, Jason

jasonuttam : Hi. I guess its not surprising for the link in my original reply to not work anymore given that it's 2 years old now! Actually, I suspect that lthe link failure is because the forum software no-longer allows links to Aliexpress - maybe? I've tried adding other links without success! I'm reticent to recommend any particular seller because I have had couple of instances of cars in my workshop where these devices have failed. In ALL instances the problem has been the quality of the pin connectors so the fix was simple. There are now lots of sellers of these Start Stop (SS) devices - I suggest that you do a simple search on places like eBay, Amazon, or Aliexpress.
So as for your other question, the reason why I answered NO to OP is because she wanted a software solution that reversed the factory operation of the SS button (i.e. SS off with ignition switch-on and then the ability to toggle SS ON/OFF during the journey). If this is your requirement too, then the answer is still NO, and I suspect that it will remain NO on an Audi A3 8V because the change would necessitate a modification to the module dataset (which ain't going to happen)
However, if you are happy to simply delete the SS function entirely, then the answer is YES - but understand that this solution is entirely different to the wants of the author of the original post.
