Emergency brake/flashing lights setting disables rear demist

Hi there

was trying to set up emergency brake/flashing lights, by:

Central Control Unit
long coding
byte 16
bit 1 and 2 activate

and setting bit 1 deactivates the rear demister!

(took me ages to work out why the demister stopped working)

any thoughts?

Glenn- Hi, how's life way down there in the very deep south?

You don't say in your post, but I assume that you are referring to the hex09 module (or what OBD11 calls "central electrics").

I'm not sure where you got those instructions to "set up emergency brake/flashing lights" - but according to my information, the software switch on  Byte 16, Bit 1 tells the hex09 module whether the car has a soft-top.

So of course, if you instruct the module to operate a soft-top, naturally the module will assume that there isn't a rear window demister!!

PS: again, according to my database, Byte 16, Bit 2 tells the hex09 module that a parking heater is installed - nothing to do with brake function

Yes correct in module 9 central electrics

I got these instructions from the pinned post at the top of the forum for A38V models.
(It’s the last setting in what i call the ‘master’ list)
Maybe I’m reading it wrong.

But what you say makes complete sense.

I did have this function working ages ago but after an issue with central locking that audi had to fix, they reset all my settings so having to recode all my tweaks.

This and the auto window closes on rain detection were the last 2 i have to code.
