Activate Hill hold (auto hold) for Audi S3 april 2016

Hi everyone.

Before bumping in here and starting with asking questions I'd like to introduce myself.
My name is Max and I've got myself a beautiful Audi S3 from 2016. (300HP)

I read about the hill hold or auto hold function that would hold the brake without holding the brake and displaying the green P in my display. My car does NOT have the physical button but I saw a video of someone changing the code and enabeling the option.
I got myself an OBDeleven Pro to long code.

I changed the following bytes in 03 brakes:

Byte 8:       01 --> 03 (enable bit 1)
Byte 19:     80 --> C0 (enable bit 6)
Byte 23:     F6 --> F7 (enable bit 0)
Byte 25:     41 (stays the same because it's an automatic)

Next up I went to adaption and changed the following:
Monitoring of functional lights:     change AUTO HOLD to 0 (to kill the error for not having the light, because there is no button)
AUTO HOLD functionality:              Activated 
AUTO HOLD functional status:       Always active (no button to activate it, so should be always active) 

I reset the car and I get the following errors:
Hill hold function not available
''Parking brake!'' (including the yellow ''P'' staying on the dash combined with a yellow triangle at the bottom)


So This is the point where I got stuck. I searched around the interwebs, but unfortunately I was unable to find the right answer. Is it possible my car was not prepared for this function and therefore the cable that SHOULD be connected to the ABS is not there?
Also I read some thing about having the wrong ABS. How do I find out which one I have and could this cause the errors?

If i forgot any important information, please let me know. This is my first post and I try to be as complete as possible, but you know. Newbies need to learn.

Ok, I reckon "Don" will be able to help. As he has a rig set up. Also is this a facelift model or pre facelift also make sure you do a full report on your old and new codings.

I hope you get it resolved. You can make the auto hold work with the above coding, but I think it's only pre facelift models with the correct ABS module.

I have the pre face lift model. That was the reason I got confused because I saw people with the same model and getting it to work  without the button.
Considering the fact that my ABS module starts with 3Q0 probably means it is impossible to do. I saw video's and people on forums that got it to work all with the 5Q0 module. 

I tried every coding multiple times with my OBD and always getting the same errors. 

My dealer advertised the car with hill hold option. He is offering me to send me the parts to build it in myself if I can't get it to work without the button. I assume the physical part would fix the whole issue for me. I just can't give up yet.

Is there an easy way to send my coding via OBDeleven app to my e-mail address or computer?

maxv: maybe try the following on Byte 28 in addition to your changes:

• Bit 2  - Autohold turn on message
  
• Bit 4 -  BAP Autohold

Hi Don and thank you for your reply.

I will be in my car later today. I just checked in my app and I see bit 2 and bit 4 are both disabled (0). I will give it a go and let you know when I get some results.

Just tried this setting together with the already coded part which I mentioned earlier. 

I can confirm this does not change anything. 

One thing I forgot to mention was that OBDeleven app always displays an error after applying these settiings. Same error after the byte 28 attempt. and yes I changed the value to 0 of the Auto hold light.

max: I've not done this tweak, so I'm not sure - but I doubt that the button lamp is actually short circuit. More than likely, the button lamp is open circuit - because it's missing the actual switch (which contains the LED).

There is an adaptation channel in the hex03 module called Monitoring of functional lights-Indicator light in AUTO HOLD button which is set to the value 7 in cars with AUTO HOLD  activated. I have no idea how this channel works!!

Hi Don,

It's a bit of a pain in the ass. I suppose only the right ABS modules support it for some reason. I just spoke to someone with the exact same tweaks in the long coding and the same adaptions which are provides in the code. I did everything exactly the same, but there's no bright light. I think I'll just try to add the function with a retrofit and fingers crossed it works.

Little addition: In cars with auto hold the value of the button light is set to 7, but the same goes for cars without auto hold. My car had the brake light and the Auto hold light both set to ''7''. I think it was just not active because of the different code string.

Hi, did you sort out AutoHold in the end I have tried many connotations of long coding via vcds and obd11 to no avail.

I hope someone gets it done soon. Money waiting for the right person. 👌
