Hi I've recently upgraded from Mib1 to Mib2 android Auto. Everything works except I can't control factory OEM footwell and door panel lighting under lighting settings on MMI. I have a section called background lighting with a button called all which controls both footwell and door panel lighting, which I understand is for newer versions with multicoloured led. Mine is the older white footwell and door panel lighting. I just want the sliders back under lighting in menu.

2 ways of doing that, either enable the settings cogs on the background lighting menu, or turn off the background lighting menu

Ah, so that will be
Central electronics
Interior light, light configuration: Ambientemenue mit alle Zonen: active Change to not active
Then reset mmi by press and holding on/of until unit restarts

subtrax1 : So, vwjap and I had both assumed that the BCM (what OBD11 calls "central electrics" module) in this car was the newer type. But I suspect that we assumed incorrectly - I think that the BCM might be the version that has an active long-code string
I say "I think" because the channels in your first picture don't align with those in my mk7 database for the earlier version BCM!
I had assumed that when you referred to "MMI" in your first post, you actually meant MIB - because mk7s don't use MMI.
What exactly is this car and what country?
Don

subtrax1 : I suspect that your BCM coding is OK Maybe check these settings in your MIB Module: 5F (Information electronics) Adaptation → Car_Function_Adaptations_Gen2 - menu_display_ambient_illumination > activated Adaptation → Car_Function_Adaptations_Gen2 - menu_display_ambient_illumination_over_threshold_high > activated
