mdowd : The term "backup" has a specific meaning on OBD11- it refers to a full scan of the complete database that is in a module. So the answer to your specific question is NO - to create a "backup" the user must manually go through the process, Go to the How-to section of the forum

That said, OBD11 does automatically create a (History) record of ALL changes that the user makes and this is saved in History. The record information contains the date/time and "before" and "after" values of the setting that was modified.
