The €158,00 price offer for the driving mode retrofit I received earlier from the dealership apeared to be only for the parts+license kit.
The labour & coding woud cost some €200,00 extra.
I've purchased the separate kit and did the wireing my self, the wiring of the mode button is easypeasy the 3rd (ESP) button was the most tricky.
I had to wire that one all the way from pin 39 of my ABS pump.
According to the coding manual for ODIS the following control modules will be affected by this retrofit:
- 01 Engine
- 09 BCM
- 13 Distance control
- 19 Diagnose-interface
- 44 Steering
- SF infotainment.
An update to these is a prerequisite for adding the 5GO 054 809 SVM
I found someone capable to do the ODIS magic for me next Friday.
I'm very curious what the effect of this update will be on my 5F which is succesfully patched with the MST2 Activator by Congo and Duke.
In VCDS this patch shows up in a warning message, something about alternative software found...
I will make a total OBD11 backup before the and after the odis coding and compare the both to see the difference.
To be continued.....
August 2024Completely forgot to follow up my driving mode retrofit endeavour from over some year ago....
Both buttons are fully functional.
ODIS had reset all ilegal extra's in my (standard-) 5F though, so I had to 're-hack' it to get back sport mode and carplay.
I watched the procedure in ODIS, which is realy straight forward: pick the proper job, fil in the license pin code and you'll be prompted with a series of instructions.
After some 10 to 15 minutes, the job is done.
Note: recognizable music on radio has been muted by youtube due to music rights violation
The reason for my obliviousness is probably due to the rare usage of these, once cherished but for (my!) daily use, completely overrated features: that is for both, the mode button, as well as the 3rd (ESP) button.
Since:
I don't use my car for
Nürburgring and / or
street racing, the presence of
ESP is very much appreciated and unfortunately my MK7,5 did not come with with
DCC.
Fully populating the left row of buttons was more as 'nice to have' thing and a challenge to get all buttons working properly.
