My new mk7.5 car has trailer assist build in, this function comes with an rearview camera. But when i drive in backeards the camera is not showing up on the navigation screen.., just the 'normal' parking pilot. Is it posible to activate the trailer assist camera to behave as the normal rear view camera?

I have the same set up, I opened up the back trim and discovered there is actually a camera inside but the video feed lead is not connected, I pulled out the mmi and found the blue plug there with the white and black plug already connected, also connected obd11 and made the camera come out, what I'm hoping is there's a lead missing from the trailer assist module to the camera, and a little bit of coding, but I won't be able to find out until my vw guru is back off holiday in just over a week

Another thing I noticed is the black/blue wire (reverse) has been replaced with a red/yellow which doesn't splice into anything in the boot lid, but goes into the plug that goes into the top of the boot to go through the grommet into the roof lining of the car, presume this goes to the trailer assist module

So just had a quick word with my mate and he says there are two sets of black/white wires when camera is fitted, so I'd say it'might be a case of just fitting the video feed lead and then coding

So I've now got a reversing camera, went to vw and asked if they do just a video feed loom, they don't do any looms that's not supplied with the car, so got the loom out of my camera kit (the loom is for sale on eBay for £65) and cut away everything that was not connected to the video feed lead, plugged it in then ran the cable to the mmi, connected the white and black wire to the blue plug, you have to remove the quad lock, pull out the blue plug from the quad lock by moving the little lever that clips it into place, then there's 2 locking covers that you have to flip up (fiddly) and then the pins slot in
Next is the obd11 bit
Camera system rear view Long coding Then select the long code up in the top right corner Scroll along using the green arrows at the bottom of the screen till Byte 7 -parking mode (quer) select the box Press and hold the green tick
Infotainment long code Scroll down to byte_19_rear_view_low Change to activated
Then reset the discover pro by pressing and holding the on/off button until the screen goes off then back on again saying welcome to Volkswagen
Also noticed the parking sensor screen is transparent (some people are complaining that it's black and can't see 1/4 of the picture)
Hope this helps
