Help needed on DRL AUdi A3 8V

Hi guys,

I have coded my Fog Lights as Cornering Light but it didnt work after that I lost DRL.
Car: Audi A3 8V 2013

The Leuchte-set changes for this tweak are:

• Leuchte12NL LB45-Lichtfunktion B 12 > Abbiegelicht links
  
• Leuchte13NL RB5-Lichtfunktion B 13 > Abbiegelicht rechts
  

Don't confuse the above setting with Abblendlicht links/rechts - this is a very different Leuchte command

Then check that static AFS light-Vorschrift is set to either:

• ECE R119, or
  
• ECE R48 - Cornering is activated above 1km/h, so only at when car is rolling

I'm not sure why you "lost DRL" - maybe look at your History records for changes related to DRL function

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, well when I do hard reset the DRL come back but next ignition they go OFF! Am I missing something here?
Also when I put lights in auto seems to be the sensor doesn’t recognize the day and lights are ON, is there anything I need to look at?

hmm........... very odd settings - I'm not sure what was intended by the strange Leuchte programming on this car!!

Rather than trying to modify the particular values - it's probably simpler to just re-install the factory settings for the 4 x Leuchte-sets.

I have just bought this Audi a week ago, probably the previous owner was messing around with the light settings.
Unfortently the DRL are still OFF after  re-install factory settings! Nothing changed still when I do the hard reset DRL come back ON with fog lights even though the fog lights have been deactivated! But after the next ignition they turn OFF.
DRLs are ON when the switch on Auto and Low Beam but when the switch on OFF where I am having the issue.
When switch on Auto Low Beam is ON all the time.

^^^ hmm....... yes indeed, the values in your previous screenshots do strongly suggest that the previous owner has made some "innovative" changes to this car.

Maybe check these settings on the central electrics module:

Außenlicht_Front

• Standlicht aktiviert zusaetzlich Tagfahrlicht > active
  
• Tagfahrlicht Aktivierung durch BAP oder Bedienfolge moeglich > not active
  
• Tagfahrlicht Dauerfahrlicht bei Handbremse abschalten > not active
  
• Tagfahrlicht nur in Schalterstellung AUTO > not active
  
• Tagfahrlicht-Dauerfahrlicht aktiviert zusaetzlich Standlicht > not active
  
• Tagfahrlichtkontrollleuchte > not active
  
• TFL_Abschaltung_ueber_Geschwindigkeit ? not active
  
• Werkseinstellung fuer Tagfahrlicht Freischaltung BAP / Bedienfolge > active
  

The last channel above places a software switch on the car's MENU that enables the driver to turn the DRLs OFF/ON. Make sure that the DRL ON box in MENU is ticked

Hi Don,

Unfortantly the DRL wont come ON!
I have done the settings on Day_Running_Lights but couldnt find this option (TFL_Abschaltung_ueber_Geschwindigkeit ? not active). is it this one: (Fahrlicht bei Tag)?
DRL option on MMI is ON, Automatic light set to late but even though they still come ON while switch on auto.
On Day_Running_Lights

4 option:
              Not active
              Daytime running lights
              Daytime running lights 
              Versehrtenlicht
I tried all values only the last one DRL comes ON with low beam while switch on OFF.

^^^^ the factory setting for Fahrlicht bei Tag is the first instance of Daytime running lights.
Don't worry about TFL_Abschaltung_ueber_Geschwindigkeit > not active - this won't be involved in your problem (it's an over-speed switch for the DRL)

I am running out of suggestions - this is an odd problem. I wonder whether this is an equipment issue, rather than a coding matter? I've encountered similar issues when folk retrofit non-OEM headlights. Do the physical headlights have a sticker with the Audi brand?

Yes, they do have Audi sticker but not similar one of them was replaced I think.

Fahrlicht bei Tag To Versehrtenlicht (which turn DRL with low beam ON while switch on O)
Is there a possibility to turn low beam OFF from Leuchte6ABL or any other option to turn OFF low beam while switch on position O ?

• Fahrlicht bei Tag > Versehrtenlicht

Leuchte6ABL LC5 and Leuchte7ABL RB1

• Lichtfunktion C > Tagfahrlicht

PS: are you sure Tagfahrlicht nur in Schalterstellung AUTO (Daytime running lights only in switch position AUTO) is set to  nicht aktiv ?

PPS: For the Fahrlicht bei Tag channel - Versehrtenlicht will normally illuminate both the low-beam lights AND the rear tails. Usually, it's the second instance of Daytime running lights that illuminates the Low-beam light only.

Yes, Tagfahrlicht nur in Schalterstellung AUTO is set to not active.
Unfortunately again the the issue still persist after following your steps.
Here are some info that could triggers your interest:

I did set up fog lights with DRL which they turned ON after 'hard reset', however they go OFF both after a couple of minutes when I leave the car, they will remain ON while I am driving until the next ignition.
Something or "settings" reverting the setup or overriding the hard reset which we couldn't lay a finger on it.
Moreover front fog lights don't turn ON with switch pulled! But they're working as corner light and with LED when I set them.
(Someone really messed up with the light settings on this car)  
I am about to give up honestly and appreciate your patient and assistance.

The above settings should operate the fogs as DRL and when the center turret is pulled-out on the rotary light switch. Before I suggest cornering lights (do you want this?), - post-up screenshots of static AFS light

Hi Don,

I am back to you regarding this post with new informations might interest you and give you a hint why DRL are off even with all code modification we have tried,
The orginal switch came with this Audi without AUTO light, so one of the owners decided to retrofit the auto light with light sensor but they didnt finish the job, I guess this explains why we couldnt figure why DRL can be turned ON with all the help you have provided, so someone coded the DRL to run with the instaled switch which has auto light when I tried to modify light coding to orginal the DRL turned off.
