Hi all,
Just purchased myself an obdeleven, just ran through the basics and not purchased anything as of yet credit wise, somebody has already used this device on the car before, my question is , I would like to renable the exhaust flaps, only seems to have a deactivate on the list, guessing you will get a renable once you purchase credit ??
Tried using vcds to enable, but the bit for it is already checked, flaps work on the tests, but cannot get them to auto close on the driving modes, any help would be appreciated.

hmm....... obviously anything is possible on a car that was modified by the previous owner - but if the software switch (Byte, Bit) for the exhaust-flaps on the engine module is set and the exhaust-flaps are deactivated, then clearly a non-coding method has been used. However. the fact that you are able to activate the exhaust flaps using the output test in the engine module is evidence that the method used by the previous owner is NOT a physical "clip", or other mechanical control mechanism My guess (emphasis on guess) is that the method used might be a separate "electrical exhaust valve controller" of some sort. There are lots of these third-party, non-OEM devices available on the net.
Of course it varies enormously depending on the manufacturer - but in general, these devices are spliced into the the powertrain CAN bus. Again it varies - however the usual place to install these controllers is in the trunk, normally behind either the left/right side covers (maybe?). I suggest that you eyeball these areas for any evidence of wiring modifications
Again, this is a pure guess, based on very little actual information about this car - so no guarantees!

Hi Don,
Cheers for that, I checked the wiring to the valves they seem fine, the exhaust is aftermarket, but has valves in it, I have read so many posts of how to disable the flaps, keep thinking I have missed something, is there a special routine to enable again ? Cannot seem to get the flaps to 90 percent in the output values and see them closed. The car has been remapped, contacted them, and they said they would not have coded them out. Scratching my head now.

Gaz: No, there shouldn't be a special routine to re-enable the flaps - assuming that the "aftermarket exhaust" is OEM compatible. And I assume that there are no errors recorded on the SCAN report and that the race/drive mode button is operating correctly. I'm also assuming that the valve chambers are not rusted/soot-clogged
Is there any information on the retro-fitted valves/exhaust that identifies what equipment has been used?

Cheers, thought I was missing something, no error codes stored at all. looks like the original audi motors have been used and just bolted to the new exhaust using the flaps intalled, both move freely on the output tests. Must be coding, only thing left.

Just been trawling through endless posts. Will check tommorow, but pretty sure on the output tests in vcds it says bank1 open but the percentage is 10 percent, surely that should be 90 if open.
May of dreamnt it. Will check.
