Hi there,
New here. I am trying to decide what plan i should get. What i need is to be able to see live data from my transmission as i am feeling my transmission is shifting harder than before. I know in basic plan, we can see the live data from the transmission. My question is if a code is thrown (the CEL isn't on at this point), will i be able to see the detail in the live data stream and save it? or i will need the freeze frame functionality to see the detail which is only available in the pro version. Please advise. Thanks!

jzw : hmm............. not quite sure that I understand your principal question, but Live data is just that - the categories options of Live data that you will be able to see shouldn't be different regardless of which version OBD11 that you select. OBD11 will simply allow viewing of whatever Live data options are available in the module. I note however from the comparison list HERE that "Live Data labels" can't be viewed without a PRO account (not sure what this is)
From a diagnostic perspective (meaning from a fault-finding point of view), Live data is separate to OBD fault reporting. It is possible for Freeze frame information to be registered in a SCAN report without the CEL illuminated, or other error message appearing on the dash albeit this is not normally the case. If this car isn't registering either of these warning messages, it will be unlikely (but not impossible) that module fault memory will have recorded Freeze frame data. However, I've NEVER seen a case of Freeze-frame data without the car registering a fault code
So, if you opt for the Basic version, you should be able to see if the car has recorded a fault code - and therefore if Freeze-frame data is available from the affected module.
The other option of course is to buy the Basic version OBD11 initially and if you subsequently find that options you need are NOT accessible - upgrade to the PRO option later

Firstly I would say that OBD11 only display the stuff they get lots of issues with so your link is not a full description of what it supports.
I think the live data labels they are talking about are the KWP200 and before live data channel labels not the UDS live date items as you cant change them as far as i know.
And just to confirm freeze frame data is only available on the pro and above license
I did come across one item of diagnostic data (but cant recall what it was) that was only shown on the ultimate package but Pro should give most people what they need to identify issues.

First - thanks for the "label" clarification!
I'm very intrigued with your words above. If I refer to the comparison list in my link above, the ONLY difference between the Ultimate and PRO options that are NOT related to OCAs is Raw Data (whatever this is)!

I guess i confused myself too This is the scenario i had in mind. let's see i am driving down the road, watching the live data. And all of a sudden the transmission is having a hard shift. Assume the live data stream is able to display the system parameters at the time but since i am driving, i cannot really see all the information in the app. Assuming also at that time, a fault code is thrown. In this scenario, can i view system parameters around the time the fault code is thrown later in the free version (assuming no freeze frame functionality) like going through the log of the live data or something? Or i have to buy the pro version to use the freeze frame data to see the system parameters. I guess the question really is that if i can use live data at a later time to analyze the systems. Thanks

Callum: My apology for complicating stuff. So, a couple of things to understand: - Freeze -frame data is ONLY accessible with a PRO account
- Live Data is a moment-in-time facility meaning that on the OBD11 screen after each sampling period, the new measurement is written over the old measurement and the old measurement is lost
You might read the material on "Charts" to satisfy your wants

Got it. Thanks. I will get the base version then and try to use the screen recording function on the phone to record the live data

Don Raw data is the application label that gives a number value to every item so that you can build your own one click app So in this example each adaptation has a number that i can plug into the app to build a one click app.
However when answering a query from somebody I also found an item that I would have considered as live data Voltas said this was raw data. But I have only come across one item so dont think its a lot of data missing.

One last point whilst it shows that Charts are availiable on the basic plan this is only true if you are using an Android Phone, IOS does not support this feature yet.

Was just going to pull the trigger and buy a 2nd gen device with pro subscription. but realized that it doesn't support q7s after 2019. or at least it's what the app says. Does anyone know if it is correct? I am asking because i am thinking of getting a new q7 in a year or 2. Thanks.
