Hey everyone, new user but long-time lurker. Been digging around in OBDeleven with my 2021 ID.4 Pro AWD, had very little success that wasn't already documented, all the interesting adaptations resulting in "function not available". But today I seemed to have had a breakthrough that I am hopeful someone can give me a second opinion on. Was able to switch sound profile from default to Harmon Kardon and seemingly hear a sound difference but can't tell if placebo/what I hoping to hear. Steps how below.
First, I switched from default VW diagnostic mode in 5F Multimedia to Development Mode. Not sure if this step or the next one is what truly made the difference, but previously everything following would result in that pesky function not available message.
Next, I went to adaptations (in 5F) -> "sound setting safe" and the only option there is "sound system". Default was "internal" I switched to "internal_individual". This specific change did not do anything upon writing but seemingly allowed me to make the next change.
Now the interesting bit. Under "8125 Application Server Infotainment" choose Adaptations, then we'll select way down the list "function configuration sound". Having previously found this menu but never been able to get the adaptation to write, I was obviously surprised when I selected "Harman Kardon" instead of "No_Brand_Sound" and hit write and it actually took. There are other options available, (Fender, Dynaudio, Beats) but Harman Kardon I know is available for ID.4 so I only tried that one.
I know writing an adaptation is one thing, and seeing results is another. This is where I need your help, if you've got an OBDeleven give this a try and let me know if you hear a sound difference. To me, and I worry this is hopeful optimism/placebo, it seemed like the upper limit was higher than before, and seemed like there was more punch at the lower frequencies. Felt like I could feel the door speakers more, with less of that limiter kicking in and reducing the volume. Maybe that's what I wanted to hear though.
Do you hear any difference? Let me know!
Before the doubters come in and say, "oh you're missing the amplifer/subwoofer/etc its not actually going to do anything". Thought that first too, you may be correct but under 5F there's an option for "external ethernet" instead of the default "internal" or the "internal_individual" I've selected instead, which would lead me to believe that other setting would be selected in the event of an external amplifier being installed.
