Traffic Jam Assistant Coding - OBDEleven

Thanks to everyone for the posts on enabling lane keep assist; I used my new obdeleven and enabled it on my 2018 Q5 and it worked great!



Wondering - does anyone know if we can enable "traffic jam assist" that basically enables the Lane keep assist with cruise on at low speeds?

It's the same as the B9 A4 and A5, done as listed here: www.audiworld.com/forums/a4-b9-platform-discussion-212/coding-turning-audi-active-lane-assist-all-cars-pre-sense-2907906/

I did this on my 2018 Q5 and it worked perfectly.

Traffic Jam Assist Coding

I made so many attempts at this so I am not going to guarantee the following is in the right sequence (but I don’t think the sequence matters that much to be honest as if it did mine would not be working). Usual disclaimers need to be noted that this worked for me and not saying it will work for you or if it is legal where you live etc etc – try at your own risk!

My car: MY18, Built 2017, SQ5 Australian delivery. Has all add on’s (DAP etc) but it seems for these cars in Australia they do not include TJA, ALA or the traffic sign recognition (note for the traffic sign one I am waiting on a Kufatec dongle to enable that one as it does need parameterization of the camera). Have previously activated ALA following MitchFin’s instructions (and it works great) from AudiWorld so note that ALA was activated before I did TJA as below.

After each and every change (ie each long coding and adaptation make sure you long press the green tick to accept each change as you go).

Control unit: 13 Adaptive Cruise Control

Long Coding:
Assistent_for_traffic_hold_up -> activated
Traffic_jam_assistant_in_car_menu -> activated
Traffic_jam_dependent_linear_tracking -> activated
Driveaway by triggerleaver -> activated
Auto driveaway after short stop -> activated
Auto driveaway by pretrigger -> activated
Curve_assistent -> activated
Dense_traffic -> activated
Emergency_assist ->installed
Emergency_steer_assist -> activated


Note – some of these were already activated – I assume they are part of the stop & go function of the ACC.

Adaptations:

Nil

Control Unit A5: Front Sensors Driver Assistance System (Enter Security Code: 20103 before coding)

Long Coding
STA -> coded


Adaptations

Nil

Control Unit 44: Steering

Long Coding
Heading control assistant -> active
Traffic jam guidance assist -> active

Vehicle configuration:
VZA pro: On (Fairly sure this one is not needed as relates to Speed Signs but I did enable it anyway)

Once all the above have been done, and you have accepted each change successfully as you have made them, reset the MMI. Once re-started I then hit the car on/off button to turn off. Get out of the car and lock it. Wait 5 minutes then get back in and start the car and go for a test drive (in multi-lane traffic, moving slow with good line markings)

You could put the coding of the line assist, I tried to put it but it gives me errors in the module 44, I do not know if I do something wrong and I would like to verify the coding that I have to compare it, thanks

I tried this on my 2017 eTron. I have the PreSense radar but not the adaptive cruise control stalk. It'd be nice if it just defaulted to mid range ACC distance or allowed an adjustment via MMI.

The long coding above didn't seem to do a darned thing. I couldn't figure out how to either locate or change some of those long coding settings.  Such as Front_traffic_assist_0x41.  A fabulous app for OBDEleven would be enable adaptive cruise for these cars that already have radar!

i try to install one from ebay the code is n  80A907129AG because my car have also ACC but without success...
i think the part was used and coding for another car...i think need to coding also the used part with your car...
or i think the solution its to buy a new parts ...

I have a 2018 Q5 Prem Plus with "pre-sense".

Can I turn on Traffic & Lane assist add ons by following the coding guidance or what hardware do I need to have installed in order for it to work?

Well, when in doubt, try

After more reading, I (seem to) have the needed camera for ALA through the front pre-sense camera. I ran the 2 apps in the OBD app to enable the ALA and have verified that it turns on properly when above 40mph + lanes identified. I confirmed that it does inch the wheel the other way while driving, and vibrates when you attempt to drive over the line. It also gives you a warning if it steers the wheel a few times. Overall I'm happy with the results .

As a side note, I never noticed how poorly some of the streets around me are until I enabled this feature! Highway shouldnt be a problem but side roads are hit and miss.

I did all the coding but couldn't do the adaptation mentioned in the last step. Is this safe to drive on road? The traffic jam assist did work but didn't start to move forward when the traffic ahead started moving. Any suggestions?

rohandavid, can it be to the 3 second rule. If stand still is longer than 3 seconds you need to press resume on ACC or tap the gas pedal. This is a normal behavior.

Thanks for the response. If it is the 3second rule then it is as good as ACC/active lane assist. Also the car doesn't follow the car ahead of you nor avoid any construction cones/barricades as shown in the video which Audi made to explain the traffic jam assist on YouTube.

HI ! does lane assist have to be activated before Traffic Jam ?
i've tried coding on my SQ5 FY (i have ACC, camera etc) ,
but at end dashboard indicate me "traffic jam is not available" and i have 2 error code in ECU 13 "missing message" and "implausible message" (something like this)
if i remove ECU 13 / Byte 01 / Bit 04 (Assistant for traffic jam_hold_up) , error gone away, but traffic in not functional

I tried this a few moments ago. Some of the long coding options were not even visible to me do I need a pro plan subscription to be able to see those? Let me know thanks.


UPDATE: I went ahead and upgraded my plan to PRO on OBD11.

I have others long coding option related to Traffic Jam on this module. 

Most of the adaptations are (not show) either. 

This is a Q3 Premium Plus with ACC stop and go and Lane Assist installed from factory. Could it be the reason why some of these options are not showing on this vehicle?

Anyone? I would love to get traffic jam in my car asap.
