hmm....... How did the 03 module lose its long-code string - this doesn't happen magically? I have 2 x suggestions as to the way forward: First: Try the long-string values below - which are taken from vehicles that I found on my MQB platform database.
Note: these 3 x cars are "Yankee" model mk7s and they ALL have the following characteristics which are the same as this car:
- Model:Golf mk7 - North America Region (NAR) - not sure if this car is NAR?
- Engine: CRUA
- 03 Module:
- Software number: 5Q0907379K
- Software version: 0371
- Hardware number: 5Q0907379F
- Hardware version: H31

vwjan : Of course, anything is possible - but "function not available" sounds like the long-code string is not being accepted by the module - rather than the long-code value not being correct. I'm not sure what process you used in attempting to force the new value into the module - but I suspect that you tried to change the long-code value, one-byte-at-a-time. From past discussions regarding this same problem with other forum members - I'm aware that one-byte-at-a-time does NOT work. This prohibition is NOT an OBD11 thing - the same restriction applies when using VCDS and VCP. AFAIK, there is no information in the public domain about this matter - but it seems that when these modules have a zero-sting, the long-code value can NOT be changed one-byte-at-a-time. My guess (emphasis on "guess") is that when long-code is a zero-string, the module goes into a state that is akin to when the module was first installed into the car on the factory assembly-line (i.e. when the module was first taken as stock from the factory warehouse).
Again, my guess is that the one-byte-at-a-time change facility in diagnostic devices like OBD11 only works when the module has an ACTIVE long-code string - being a non-zero string. I'm more than happy to be advised otherwise by a more informed forum colleague
So, my hunch is that you need to enter the entire long-code string - as a single value (i.e. as ONE change) for the module to accept the new setting. Personally, I have NOT made this change using OBD11. I use VCDS for this process (which I find more intuitive when replacing the entire module long-code string.
At the end of this reply, I include a copy of a 2017 instruction by whataboutthis /@deleted regarding OBD11's long-code facility. As you will read, it is ostensibly about how to restore a previous long-code string from OBD11's History record -but this situation has parallels with your case. So, hopefully it also applies!
The screenshots in the instruction use the Android option of OBD11 and the pictures apply to a now obsolete software version - I'm not sure if the iOS version OBD11 software also has this facility.

Further Information to be added to this section. coding from history can be reverted by following this steps:1/ Go to History 2/ Select the History item with the long coding you wish to revert to and click on old value that you want to restore (the coding will be copied to clipboard) 3/ go to Long coding and click on any byte of the coding (white box) at top of the screen 4/ From the options select paste coding and press OK 5/ The changes will be highlighted in Green until you select the green tick box which will write the value
