Hello everyone, I'm Jacob, I'm the owner of 2021 VW Golf MK7.5 GTI. I'm happy to be here and hope I'll found some help, as I messed up with OBDeleven's coding. I was playing with my headlights and I set something which I supposed to not touch. As a result my LED daylights and blinkers doesn't work. Low beam and high beam lights works. I was changing some data in central electric. Yes, I'm dumb because I didn't make any backup... but don't be judgin, please. Any idea how to fix it? Any help will be appreciated. Cheers Attachments:

Jacob: Hi. Don't be too harsh on yourself - we have ALL been there at some stage in our OBD11 learning-curve. My personal view is that it's good experience for everyone to make similar errors because these type of events are excellent learning environments!! OK - lets focus on fixing stuff instead of me sprouting gratuitous personal-philosophy!! Because you are a new-bee, you probably are not aware that the deities on the OBD11 mother-ship have anticipated the situation in which you find yourself. OBD11 records and keeps details EVERY coding change that your make - the information is stored against your account on OBD11's central server back in Lithuania (at least I think that the server is in Lithuania)!
The facility is called History and this is an example of a history record for a change made to an adaptation channel:
---------------------------------------------------------------
Adaptation
Control unit: 17 Dashboard
Name: Inszenierung
Values:
Inszenierung:
Old value: deaktiv
New value: aktiv
Mileage: 164530 km
Date: 2024-03-10 17:45:39
---------------------------------------------------------------
Notice that the record has everything needed to revert the change back to the original setting
So I suggest that you access your personal History records and methodically (and CAREFULLY) revert the changes to the old value.
This is how to access your History file (assuming that you use iOS version of OBD11):
- Fire-up the OBD11 App on your mobile-phone (no need to connect to the car)
- On the opening screen - select Garage (lower left part of screen)
- If you have registered multiple cars against your account - select the correct vehicle
- Scroll down the page and select History
If you want to digitize you history records and maybe print-off a copy, complete the steps above and follow the steps below:
- On the 2nd screen - deselect everything except Adaptation and Long coding
- When you receive the email that you sent to yourself (last screen) - open the file and print the contents

Hi Don, thanks for your reply. Yes, I agree all these mistakes helping to understand how it works. Now I know how to change and code North America's tail lights to EUR. My car is from Canada, but now I have amber rear blinkers which are separated from break lights. plus, I got rear fog light which are mandatory equipment in EUR. Anyway, thank you for pointing me the history button. I missed it somehow. I sent a copy of changes to my e-mail and now I need to check it line by line. I forgot to tell I have some fault codes which I can't erase. Maybe it's connected with missing daylights and indicators...? On the dashboard I have a notice there are left and right bulbs burnt. These are LED, so I guess it's not possible.

kooba : hmm.......... alas, your pictures are NOT complete - so my understanding of this particular problem is incomplete!
The better way to present fault information on the forum is to post-up a full and unedited (meaning absolutely NO changes) SCAN report. The benefit of a SCAN is that it discloses full details of ALL fault information AND it also places the error data in context - because the SCAN tells us how the car is built (i.e.details of the other modules are also reported)
Both these dimensions of a SCAN greatly enhance the forum's understanding of problems on a car that is located on a different hemisphere!
Forgive my explanation if you already know - but a SCAN is created with OBD11 by selecting the big "Tap to scan" tab shown below (ignore the highlighted parts- the picture was created for another purpose):
Once the SCAN process has completed - use the steps in my previous instructions to once again access History. On the second (filter) screenshot in my instructions, deselect all entries except Full scan. When you receive the email, copy-an-paste the SCAN file as an attachment in a new post.
Also, in your new post - please provide more words about the headlights on this car because the fault data in your screenshots is complaining about lost basic settings in the headlights! What flavor headlights are installed on this car and are they factory fitted, or retrofitted? If the latter, please provide lots of information about the retrofit project.

OK, so I amde a full scan, the results are attached. About faulty codes: I removed front bumper (need to repaint it), so there's no radar, no parking system harness, no fog lights; that's why there're so many codes. Headlights are factory, Hella. When I picked up the car, daylights and front blinkers were working just fine. OBDeleven_Log.txt (25.09 KB)

OK - certainly a very error-rich SCAN!!! Was this car involved in a collision to the driver-side? I suggest that you charge the battery, clear the errors and make a fresh scan.
It's not clear how much of the "system harness" has been removed - but the reason for coincident errors to both left and right-side turn-signal lamps could be related. There's just too many unknowns about this car to make any suggestion

that might be a good tip, but the car had front indicators and daylights when I received it. Yes, there was a collision - in 2021, they fixed it in Canada and all the errors are since then. The car was used in Canada, had all the front lights correct. I still think I messed up something in Leuchte 0 and Leuchte 1.. Attachments:

kooba : hmmm..........OK. I'm very, very, very surprised that a car with the type of errors in your SCAN report was ever operational - but I guess anything is possible!!! Anyway, the coding on your screenshot of the left-side front turn-signal lamp is OK. As I said in my last post (and again, with the caveat that anything is possible) - if you didn't find any change records in your History data that explain the faults, the fact that the turn-signals on both sides of the car do not work suggests a problem with a common element to both lamps!
But, once more - there are just too many unknowns on this car to be confident that my suggestion is accurate!

I charged battery and I erased all trouble codes. Here are the results. There left many of them, but when I'll connect again front parking sensors, radar, subwoofer, and some other missing stuff, then they should disappear. Also need to check resistance in right rear shock absorber. Because of that collision I think I also need to change an air-bag controller. I get back to old set ups in case of all related things to front blinkers and day lights. Unforunately still no blinkers. Now I think it could be some mechanical damage. I need to call to one of the automotive electronic experts. OBDeleven_Log-3_06.09.24_full scan.txt (19.25 KB)

hmm......... strange about the blinkers because the left-side and right-side blinker errors that were present in your earlier SCAN are no longer on the central electrics module in your latest SCAN. Also, the low-voltage errors have also been deleted with the charged battery - so you are movng in the right direstion!

Don, thank you for spending your time on this topic. I'm very appreciated. How about day light and blinkers setting? Do you know, by chance, how should it be set in proper way? Is it Leuchte 0 and Leuchte 1? I'm asking because I checked logs from other Golf 7.5 (2019) and I didn't see any set up for front blinkers. Only rear: Leuchte 18 and 19.

kooba :. your generous words of thanks are appreciated - albeit, not necessary!!
"day light and blinkers setting"? Not sure what you mean! On all MQB platform cars like a Golf mk7/mk7.5, there is NO connection between the "blinkers" and "day light". On these cars, the blinkers operate in the same way regardless of whether it's "day light", or night time.
As I've already said, the coding for the "blinkers" as per your previous screenshots are OK for LED type front turn-signal lamps and your latest SCAN contains NO errors related to these lamps!
Maybe you mean Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) - which are totally separate to the front turn-signal lamps? If so, the coding for a mk7 depends on whether the factory fitted DRLs have incandescent lamps, or LEDs. Again, your latest SCAN contains NO DRL error-messages!
As for your question about the "Golf 7.5 (2019)" - yes, this can be a very different car from a wiring and coding perspective depending on what type of headlights are factory fitted. From your words, I suspect that the central electrics module on the car does NOT control the lamps in the headlight fittings. If the headlight Leuchte-sets have been factory disabled, my expectation is that this car uses Light Control Modules to operate the headlight lamps - instead of the 09 module.

I meant DRLs. In EU we have to use front lights during the day. Most of the cars have LEDs and these are used as "day lights"; the lights are turned on when your ignition is on. At night, low beam light are turned on automatically (if the light switch is on AUTO position) or you are turning your light on (if the light switch is on OFF position). At the same time DRLs are turned off. In my car front blinkers are on LED stripe and I'm pretty sure DRLs are on the same LED stripe, the only difference is the color. Something like here:
"As for your question about the "Golf 7.5 (2019)" - yes, this can be a very different car from a wiring and coding perspective depending on what type of headlights are factory fitted. In my car all the settings and adaptions tail and front lights are done by 09 Module. I checked different settings and nor DRLs nor blinkers are working. ALl other lights are working: low beam, high beam, taillights, reverse lights, rear blinkers, fog lights, break lights, front and rear side markers.
"As I've already said, the coding for the "blinkers" as per your previous screenshots are OK for LED type front turn-signal lamps and your latest SCAN contains NO errors related to these lamps!"
When first time use indicator, an info about a burnt out light bulbs appeared again. Plus, I have faulty codes again.

In my car all the settings and adaptions tail and front lights are done by 09 Module. Jacob: OK - if you say so!! But I invite that maybe you suspend your firm conviction above about the "09 module" and the "front lights" (just while you read my reply below) and consider the following:
From your words and your SCAN report - this is a "Yankee" Golf with a DKFA engine and with left/right LED modules @ address D6 and D7. The central electrics module is 5Q0-937-085CF. I'm aware that the Leuchte-sets for the front turn-signals on this car have been activated because of the screenshots that you posted earlier. And as I replied - the values are correct if the central electrics module controls these lamps. However, I suspect that the central electrics module on this car might have been heavily modified (I'm guessing, of course)
As support for my hunch- I draw your attention to the modules in your SCAN : 29 Light Control Left and 39 Light Control Right. Notice that your SCAN reports "System description: LCM_MLBevo". I've highlighted the term LCM which means that this car is most definitely equipped with the Light Control Modules that I identified in my last response!
As I say - I suspect that the 09 module on this car has been heavily modified in an attempt to meet the EU lighting requirements. Alas, I suspect that some (most?) for the changes made to the module have been incorrectly applied - but once more, I'm guessing!!
So (and again) - maybe reconsider your firm brief that the "front lights" on this car are controlled by "09 Module" (I suspect that the ONLY headlight lamps that are controlled by the 09 module are low-beams)

Don,
Im not arguing, maybe I wrongly assumed that 09 Module is the only one responsible for lights setting. It's because I was making a set up for taillights and I noticed Leuchte for: low and high beams, warning lights, tailights, fog lights, rear indicators, licence plate lights... It seems like I was wrong, sorry for making confusion. I did the change from US to EUR by myself. The easiest way was to buy European taillights, change some pins and make new adaptations. Also one additional harness was needed - rear fog light. I choose other option - to have side markers, as was originally - I sent my taillights to the company where they added additional LED lights with amber indicators. There's an additional pin in lamp cube. I added three wires: two for indicators and one for fog light. I used free pins in BCM and I made adaptation accordingly. But, I think you might be right about other Module responsible for front lights, such as DRLs and indicators. I check a history of changes I made and it seems like there was not front blinker coding on Leuchte 0 and Leuchte 1. The same was on other VW Golf which logs I was checking (found on this forum).
"So (and again) - maybe reconsider your firm brief that the "front lights" on this car are controlled by "09 Module" (I suspect that the ONLY headlight lamps that are controlled by the 09 module are low-beams)." - it looks like the is the right track. To check that I have to ask you some questions... Now I have to check setting on these two modules, check changes history and try to find some bugs, right? Could you be so kind and clarify what is that: "left/right LED modules @ address D6 and D7", please?
cheers

kooba: Of course you are " not arguing" - I never assumed that you were!! In as polite a manner as possible, I was simply inviting that you think differently about your conviction regarding the 09 module and I'm delighted to read in your last post that you have accepted my invitation!! OK - as for your description of the changes made to the front/rear lighting on this car - these are non-trivial modifications requiring substantial and targeted modification to module coding! In regard to your questions: To check that I have to ask you some questions... - Now I have to check setting on these two modules, check changes history and try to find some bugs, right?
- Could you be so kind and clarify what is that: "left/right LED modules @ address D6 and D7", please?
For question 1.: I'm NOT suggesting that you "check setting on these two modules" (assuming you are referring to D6 and D7)! I doubt that you have changed coding on "these two modules" because I very much doubt that OBD11 can access coding on these modules!
For question 2. : I'll let slide the matter of how "kind" I have been in my responses -but as I've already said, you can find D6 and D7 on your SCAN report (incidentally, modules 29 and 39 on your SCAN are also related to the LED headlight lamps on this car). Since D6 and D7 appear as active modules in your SCAN - you can access "these two modules" from the Control Units screen on OBD11. However and again as I have already said, OBD11 cannot access coding on these modules - so don't expect that the Adaptations, or Coding options on OBD11 software will work for "these two modules"
I suggest the way forward is as follows (and I'm extrapolating from your description of the new equipment that has been installed on this car for the tail-lights):
By definition, the use of cross-wiring harnesses (of any sort) are non-OEM, which means that any related coding changes are peculiar to the design that was used by the individual manufacturer of the retrofitted equipment! So, I can make no comment about coding for the new tail-lights - I simply suggest that you carefully follow the seller's instructions on this matter
Therefore and assuming that you have made NO changes to the headlight equipment on this car - there should have been NO changes (at all) made to coding related to the headlight function.
So, using your History records - I suggest that you revert back to factory settings any changes related to how the headlights function. This includes but is not restricted to the Leuchte-sets for the headlight lamps. I expect that your focus for this task will be on the 09 central electrics module - but maybe changes were also made to the 4B Multifunction module- I don't know if so!

Don, you might be right, but I'm pretty sure front indicators stopped working before I connected taillights. I mean, rear lights were changed to EU, wires were on place, but still it was not connected to BCM, and they were still not coded. Because of that I would not link taillights conversion with disappearing front indicators. Where can I find these lights modules? Maybe I disconnected it somehow. I was reassembling some interior parts...

kooba : I'm really not sure what has happened to this car - so I can't make further comment The left/right car-side D6/D7 modules are called A31/A27 respectively - the actual module location depends on what type of LED headlight fittings are installed on this car (varies with the manufacturer) - but in general they are physically attached to the headlight housing. Below are a coupe of examples :
And the 29/39 modules are called J1023/J1018 respectively - they are item #10 in the picture below

Don, thanks for this info. That what I thought - these modules are assembled to each headlight. I'll set a visit at electronics shop, most probably these modules are damaged. Maybe I did some short circuit. These modules are very fragile for voltage surges. Nothing else comes to my mind.

Hi there, Don and everyone who will be struggling with this issue in the future: the solution was very simple - in the 4B multifunction module I changed market from NAR to ECE, which was huge mistake. It caused lack of front blinkers and DRLs.
Long coding Control unit: 4B Multifunction Module Values: market: Old value: nar New value: ece
