Hi, I'm new to the forum, but I've been reading for many years. Today I decided to ask because something very strange is happening to me:
I have a Golf R mk7 (EU spec). The right DRL works perfectly when the low beams are not on, but when they are on, it turns off completely. The left one, on the other hand, remains on (less bright but on)
I turn off the low beams and it turns on perfectly with the same intensity as the one on the other side, I turn on the lights and it turns off completely.
Through ODBeleven I have tried to force the intensity up (default 26 to 100) from central electrics etc etc... but nothing happens, it remains completly off. If I try the same but with the left DRL, (to 100) it does increase perfectly
when I turn off the low beams and voila!, it turns on again. I mean, the DRL works and it gets power and bright, but for some strange reason it doesn't activate when it is in conjunction with the low and high beams
Any ideas?
Thanks

James: Hi. Purely from your words, my hunch is that the likely cause of this problem is NOT a lamp "intensity" issue. Instead, I suspect that the reason for the odd DRL behavior is the Leuchte-command(s) in the left-side headlight for the Public lighting function.
Again from your description of this problem, my guess is that this car was factory built with incandescent headlight lamps, rather than LED/Xenon lamps.
If my guess is correct, please post-up screenshots of the following 2 x Leuchte-sets: - Leuchte4TFL LB4
- Leuchte5 TFL RB32
To be clear, I need to see ALL 19 x adaptation channels for each Leuchte-set in your pictures

By the way, I tried doing what you yourself mentioned in another post. But it does absolutely nothing. Neither for the left nor for the right.
"If you want the DRLs to illuminate to 100% with low-beam lights:
Search for Leuchte4TFL LB4 Select Lichtfunktion B 4 Only if the existing setting is not active, change to Abblendlicht links Search for Leuchte5 TFL RB32 Select Lichtfunktion B 5 Only if the existing setting is not active, change to Abblendlicht rechts
PS: don't confuse Abblendlicht links/rechts with Abbiegelichts links/rechts - they are very different commands"
As I say in my initial message, the only thing I do apply is the increase in brightness, going from 26 to 100, but only on the left, on the right, always off.

Not all Golf mk7s, or mk7.5s are created equal, nor are the DRLs factory coded equally!!
Simply applying DRL tweak changes intended for another car because the vehicle in the other post also has a MQB platform has a very low possibility of success
Think about our discussion thus far. Why do you think that I have asked you for Leuchte-set screenshots for your car? If ALL mk7s/mk7.5s had the same DRL factory coding - I wouldn't need your screenshots!!!
The reason is because factory coding of the DRLs varies across different cars depending on lots of variables.

I have tried, just for a test , using the obdeleven applications menu to activate the option "DLR on with Low Beam" and now, both DRLs are on with the low beam lights on but.... the right one, with less intensity than the left. Whereas before, it was completely off, now it is on but with less intensity...(we have gained something)
In other words, before, with the high beams on, one DLR was completely off and the other was dim (subtle, little) , now the one that was off has some brightness and the one that was already bright is now much brighter
¿Why is the brightness not equal in both?
I wil attach screenshots of my configuration en a fews minuts

It seems that it has been solved, comparing both sides (Leuchte4TFL LB4 and Leuchte5 TFL RB32) I had one of them have the pararemter in DIMMER CD3 set to maximize and the other set to in minimize, that created some kind of conflict between the DRLs.
After set both on minimum, now have the DRLs with maximum brightness when lights are off, and minimized brightness with lights ON. I found that DRLs dazzle if you have it at maximum brightness with the lights at night
Thank you

James: hmm.......... the Leuchte-command on Lichtfunktion B duplicates the setting on Lichtfunktion C because the Position-Light function automatically switches-ON when the Dip-Beam lights are switched-ON. So, I suggest that you set Lichtfunktion B = not active
And for your night-time problem, lower the value of Dimmwert CD to somewhere around 30.

I can only say thank you very much for helping me and so many people who come asking. It's all a bit confusing for me. Now that I have both DRLs equal in brightness and that they work well together with the low beams, I'm happy.
