I am looking to buy a tool for VW cars and of course the topmost options are OBDeleven and VCDS. OBDeleven seems better and more user friendly, however I cannot find any claims or description, how my car data details are used and/or stored.
In these days of all/and everything hacks - I think there should clear statement how details such as the VIN, model, make and all other data is transmitted and/or stored through the OBDeleven servers. Even, if we are not talking about security risks here - one may wish not to share such data or may wish to know, if sharing for what the data will be used.
I browsed the Internet in some attempts to find details or statements about security/privacy for the App - but did not come with anything. Even in this forum - searching with keyword 'privacy' does not give much.
Anyone care to comment?

Your VIN is visible through front windshield so why are afraid about this? Everybody can read you VIN on the car park.

Voltas IT are the people who could answer you main question about how the data is transfered/stored used and I doubt they will talk about it on this site because thats part of the app process. What i can say from my own experience is that the data is stored on OBD11 servers (which I am very happy with) and is linked to VIN and User account so even though I can find you vin number if I look on OBD11 I wont see any of the history. If you are worried about security of data then check out the following extract on what VWGroup are now checking for and storing against your cars VIN Number. The purpose of this data is to enable Garage to refuse warranty work due to modifications by owner and or previous owner
