Don't think you will be successful. You will need a specific setup including a large calibration pattern hanging in front of the car, using specific distances and heights. Even the V...-Tools are not ideal tools for this.
Maybe you can ask some windshield-repair-replace shops if they can assist. This surely will be cheaper than VW

When I had my windscreen replaced they were quoting £360, but that may have been because the insurance were paying)

What, calibration alone for more that 300 bucks?! I always had in mind that having a car wash is printing money (nope, no reference to Breaking Bad). Maybe I should switch to windshield repairs For that money I am sure they took the car to VW and just added their fee up to that bill. The calibration process for A5 alone takes a few minutes and is automatic. Even when assuming that they have to adjust their system to VAG and have to align the car to it, this should not take more than 15 minutes in a decent shop dealing with this every day. Still worth asking

Yep, I thought it was a rip off (plus that was pound sterling), took them about ten minutes, put a big board in front of the car, measured the distance from car to board, then measured the height of the board, then plugged in a obd device, had a fiddle, then said your cars done mate sign here 😂🤣😂
