Hi guys,
I'm new to the forum and uae Obd eleven for roughly one year. So far I'm happy with it but I still have an open point I couldn't solve:
Almost one year ago I decided to get a trailer hitch (Anhängekupplung) for my 8P.
I'm still happy with it, the only thing which keeps on annoying me is the park distance control (pdc) which is always activated and warning me with its unique flatline sound. As long as only the ballhead (Kugelkopf) is mounted everything is working properly as the ballhead is not within the Pdc range...as soon as I attach a trailer or bike carrier I receive tje flatline noise.
As far as I could see there should be some coding which solves the problem (vcds: trailer hitch attached activation) but so far I couldn't transfer the steps to obd eleven coding mode or the coding was simply wrong.
Does anyone have any experiences on this?
Thanks M.

dcafviper i dont have any experience of this but if you post the vcds coding we may be able to decipher what you need to do.

Hi Cupra280,
thanks for your reply I started based on the following link/video:
It's a step by step example denonstrating the VCDS coding on a Skoda Yeti, as the main functions appear to be identical I was willing to give it a try. The only issue I had was the "conversion" of these steps to the coding/long coding in OBD eleven. The thing is that I didn't find a way to get into the "installation list" and activate point 69 which seems to be responsible for the trailer hitch.
Basically the power supply for the trailer hitch is working fine, so I'm not sure if this step in the "installation list" is necessary, but maybe it changes something in the module for the parking sensors as well. So far everytime I tried to change the coding for the parking sensors in the comfort module I received the message that the coding is wrong, so I restored the original value again.
I'm quite sure that I'm just entering the wrong coding values and it actually shouldn't be that hard, but in the end I wanted to understand what I'm doing that's why I didn't want to go to the dealership straight away.
I'll try to get the coding of my car in the evening...maybe it is easier to spot/identify the point.
Have a nice day, M.

dcafviper, VCDS Installation list in OBD11 is the Control Units so what this video (and i have not watched it all the way through) is showing you is that if you go to control units screen, then if you don't have control unit 69 (trailer) then you add it in. Please note from past experience of people adding in new control units if the colour of the 69 is Black once added (instead of Green or Red) then the system cant talk to it. Hope that helps.

Hi Cupra, I finally found time to check it today....and I have to say that it was a clear user fail. After going to the installation list I finally found point 69 which is responsible for the trailer hitch. Unfortunately it seems like the module isn‘t communicating....displayed black as you mentioned before. So it seems like I will have to familiarize with the beeping sound of the park distance anyhow Nonetheless I would like to thank you for your support on this topic.

Sorry to hear that, it might be work talking to whoever you got the kit from to ask if they do the control unit or is there another way to do this.
As I dont know your car the only other option I can give you is turn the volume right down when using it

In my car in the Park assist module there is an option for Trailer hitch, have you tried activating it?
