Either my search isn’t working or this hasn’t been touched on yet. Replaced my totaled 2016 GTI with a 2019 and it has a new audible and MFD warning when the driver door is opened while the ENGINE is on. It sounds just like the one when the IGNITION is on and the driver side door is opened. Coding the ignition warning off (17 -> Ignition Active Message; Trigger) didn’t effect the behavior for when the door is opened with the engine running, ie. still beeps. Looked at the adaptations for Module 17 - Dashboard via OBDeleven and didn’t see anything that would obviously change this. Anyone have any ideas or luck with turning this off?

"Attention: Engine is running".... Oh really?? I didn't even know, thanks VW! That sounds so annoying, I didn't know they added a new message just for that. So your dashboard doesn't have the little picture of the car that shows which door is open?

- Go to adaptation part of the control module that OBD11 calls Dashboard (it lives @ address hex17)
- Search for the "parent" name Configuration of displayable contents and hopefully you can select the channel called Display: engine running required
- If my guess is correct, the setting on your car should be yes - if so, change the setting to no (you may be asked to enter a security code - if so, use 47115)

I finally got to try this tonight. Unfortunately I could not find that channel in my 2019 Oh well, thanks for chiming in and trying to help! Please let me know if you have any other ideas.

Same here. No adaptation in 17 for my 2019 GLI either..... there’s gotta be a way, somehow.

I am actually in a very similar situation to you, OP. I had a 2018 GTI, totaled, replaced with a '19. This beep is driving me bonkers too. I've tried both solutions offered here with no luck.

Something in long coding you could try
Exit warning from yes to no

Something in long coding you could try Exit warning from yes to no I saw that the other day and was hoping it would disable the "don't forget your mobile phone" message that pops up when leaving the car. Hadn't had a chance to look into it yet, though.

I used the APP to change the value of Open Door Alarm (with engine running) - initially it was set to "alarm on, drivers door". I changed to "off" the app took 10 points from my account but the alarm still sounds. When I go back to double check the setting, it shows "off". What gives? If there was another procedure to make the setting stick the app does not explain that at all.
The car is 2020 VW GTI SE with keyless entry, start stop button
Thanks
Note: I got the gauge needle sweep activated, I never intended to do that, somehow the open door alarm results in needle sweep ?!?!

The latter can be disabled but not the former.

You still don't get it. The app disables the ignition ON beep. It works! however it does NOT disable Engine is running beep.
Ignition ON and Engine ON is not the same.

You are right , sadly. I bought obdeleven expressly to remove this ANNOYING noise.... .and nothing can be done . Why instead , safety belt alarm is quieter? It should be the opposite !!

There has to be a way through long coding, I just haven't found it yet, if anyone stumbles across it, please post it here, I would do the same...

Very disappointing to see that this annoying and way too loud alarm can not be turned off on the 2019 Atlas. I am pissed at VW. I was told during my test drive that it could be adjusted in settings and I had a loaner with the analog dashboard and the alarm is only half as loud.
I feel sorry for any parent with a child asleep in the back seat. It is unnecessary that this alarm is so loud. Are you listening VW?!?!? I do not like being lied to!!!
My bad for purchasing OBD Eleven without checking because this was my only real reason for buying. Are you listening OBD ?!?! Can you develop a code for this.
I an seriously considering taking the dash off to try to remove or disable the alarm physically. It seems the 'speaker' for this alarm is on the back of or imbedded in the screen. Any ideas?

What about leave warning delay, mines set at 1.6 seconds, maybe change that to 10 and see if it changes anything?

I drive a 2019 vw GTI and every time I stop the "engine is running" comes on but I found a short fix. when you come to a stop and it comes on hit the "ok" button on the right of the steering wheel and it'll stop until you make a full stop again I do it only when I'm waiting at a stop light when I know it'll be a second.

Go to Dashboard then long coding. The fifth option down is ignition key warning device, set to no warning!
