I'm based in South Africa and I'm driving golf 7.5 r fitted discover pro satnav but all models in South Africa are fitted with discover pro satnav but it's not enabled. Is the way to enable satnav using obdeleven?

Hi,
I'm new in the obdeleven world, what is the SWAP?
The discover pro satnav it is installed but not enabled, so I thought I can use obdeleven apps to enable it.

hj:Hi - without intending to steal krystian's thunder SWAP means Software As Product and it is the process whereby an option/feature is "authorized" by VW to operate on a car through an individual key-code that is tied to the car's VIN. SWAP is usually only available through licensed VW dealers - it's not something that OBD11 can do. That said, OBD11 can be used to toggle the Byte/Bit setting for the SATNAV region setting (in Byte 3) and the software switch to enable SATNAV (Byte 24) and the adaptation settings in the hex5F module but these changes are only useful if SATNAV is authorised on your car via SWAP

Plus VW do not like enabling Nav on a car that didn’t leave the factory with it

Is the way to enable satnav using obdeleven? Are you sure it's the discover pro satnav? I'm also in SA and it's optional. They come standard with the new composition media. If you have the satnav version you won't have the 2 control knobs on either side of the screen.

Yes, I'm sure. The vehicle spec says discover pro like the ones in Europe. You do get satnav with the infotainment system with knobs and also without knobs.

Your unit in the glove box, 1 or 2 SD card slots? From 2017 when the facelift 7.5R came to SA the discover pro had no knobs on the screen. See attached cars.co.za article in 2017 on the facelift. Discover Pro was an option you would have had to pay extra for and even in those pictures you can see no knobs www.cars.co.za/motoring_news/volkswagen-golf-r-2017-quick-review/43930/

Look at the cars sticker on the B pillar it will have a build date on it Eg my car was built on Nov 22nd 2018 and is a MY19 and year letter on VIN is K which is 19 but was actually a 18 build and complianced in Feb 2019
So the stealers sell them as 2019 models but when you trade the robbers will say "But its a 2018 model by the build date"

Ok. Thanks I'll check. Cause with my knowledge I thought the year stated on natis can't be below as the vin number year. In short a vin number is when the car was build, so how can the natis be below the build year.

So it's possible the build year to be 2014 and the vin number to be 2015?
