Hi, I recently retrofitted a rain and light sensor to my A3 8v (2013) and everything is working well in terms of auto wipers, lights etc. Even the coming home lights work well (I.e. come on when dark as expected) however the leaving home lights do not always work - whenever I leave the car during the day and return to the car in the evening the leaving home lights don’t work even though the auto lights activate as soon as I start the engine.
when I turn the engine off and exit the car the coming home lights activate - what’s weird is, when I unlock the car again the leaving home lights start working again - is this how it’s supposed to function??
in short - if the lights were on during the last journey then the leaving home lights will activate if dark, however if the lights were off during the last journey the leaving home lights don’t come on even if dark.

Hello mate
Can you please help me with coding rain sensor and auto light switch? How have you managed to do this? Please help. My car is Audi A3 8V.

^^^ for the coming home/leaving home settings (i.e., the original topic), the setup for adaptation channels is as indicated below in the Central electrics module @ address hex09 - except that whereas the channel group is shown as Comfort illumination in the picture, for an A3 8V, this may be Außenlicht_uebergreifend instead. Don
PS: I've highlighted the CH channels in the yellow box, but not note the settings for the LH channels as well

I have a similar problem, also for me everything works fine in terms of auto lights and rain sensor but the CH/LH lights won't work even buying the application on the OBD app. Does it have anything to do with the fact i retrofitted it? P.S. i've tried these options and still don't work..

I have a similar problem, .............. the CH/LH lights won't work even buying the application on the OBD app. Does it have anything to do with the fact i retrofitted it?.. maaks: Hi. "retrofitted" - what do you mean by "retrofitted"?
The steps in my previous response sets-up the hex09 module (the module that OBD11 calls "Central electric") to enable the CH function and the LH function- assuming that the car has a light sensor fitted to the windshield. These changes are normally all that's required for bog-standard halogen headlight assemblies.
However, and notwithstanding that the channel Außenlicht_uebergreifend-Coming Home Leuchten in my screen-shot has the setting low beam - on some cars (depending on the type of headlight fitting that's installed) after this is done, you will also need to program the command Coming Home oder Leaving Home aktiv into the appropriate Leuchte-sets for the low beam lamps. A Leuchte-set is a bank of 19 x adaptation channels with the word "Leuchte" in its title and with the same parent name accross all 19 x channels. A Leuchte-set controls an individual light of the 35 x exterior lights on a MQB platform vehicle - like the Audi A3 8V.
For example, the 2 x Leuchte-sets for the low-beam lights are: Leuchte6ABL LC5 left-side Leuchte7ABL RB1 right-side
I don't know what type of headlights are on your car - but for HID fittings, additional changes are required as follows: Low beam left-side
Leuchte6ABL LC5-Lichtfunktion C 6 > Coming Home oder Leaving Home aktiv
Leuchte6ABL LC5-Dimmwert CD 6 >127
Low beam right-side Leuchte7ABL RB1-Lichtfunktion C 7 > Coming Home oder Leaving Home aktiv
Leuchte7ABL RB1-Dimmwert CD 7 >127
If you want other car lights to participate in the CH/LH activities (i.e. tail lights - perhaps). similarly program the above Leuchte commands into vacant channels in the allied Leuchte-sets

With retrofitted i mean that my car didn't come with auto lights from the factory so i installed and coded both the auto light switch and rain/light sensor and everything works fine apart from CH/LH; lights won't stay on when i get the Key off the ignition and and they won't come on when i locking/unlock the car. I've read your response...but i haven't fully understaded what's the problem with It. My car has Xenon headlights..Hope you can help me

Tried but still doesn't work, tried with both manual and automatic, with manual if i give a shot of High beams and then open the door they stay on for the 20 seconds ad set, but i don't want these Kind of mechanisms, i'd like them to turn on/off when i locking/unlock the car like every other car. I even tried with buying the application and still doesn't work...crazy

^^^ OK - so at least the CH function works in the manual setting. Does LH work at all and are there any error messages on the hex09 module (Central electrics) - perhaps related to the rain-light-sensor? Also check the following channel settings in hex09 module:
CH/LH General settingsAußenlicht_uebergreifend-Menueeinstellung CHO LHO > Menuesteuerung aktivieren (this places a switch in the MENU for the CH/LH function- make sure that this software switch is enabled) Light sensor-Einschaltgrenze_CHO_LHO > 600 lx (this sets the twilight light-level threshold for CH/LH) LH settingsAußenlicht_uebergreifend
Leaving-Home Verbausstatus > Enabled Menueeinstellung Leaving-home Zeit per BAP > 60 seconds (this sets the on-time for LH) Menuesteuerung Leaving-home Freischaltung per BAP > active CH settingsAußenlicht_uebergreifend Coming Home Leuchten > Low beam Coming Home Verbaustatus > automatic Coming-home Einschaltereignis > Driver door Menueeinstellung Cominghome > 20 seconds (this sets the on-time for CH) Menuesteuerung Coming Home Werkseinstellung > active Don

I have set up everything like you said it but still doesn't work. My concern is about the menu option being disabled in the software. I think it doesn't appear in my menu yet, this is what i have right now: Car > exterior lighting > lights when giù get out (ON), lights when unlocking (ON) I had a suspect that the adaptions wouldn't work but i just solved a problem with side mirrors so the OBD works fine

Forgot to tell you, there's are no errors in hex-09 related to the sensor. I think my concern is right because my other problem was with mirrors not folding when locking the car and i had to do it manually, i finally found online the coding to make the setting appear on the MMI and it was OFF, i enabled It and now it works just like factory. Also, one last thing, i tried buying it again but even the application turns back OFF by itself, don't know why honestly. (The reason i bought it again is because i was showing a friend how CH/LH wouldn't work and went on the application for CH/LH lights and found out it turned OFF by itself)

Ok, i made It work somehow, found the coding to make the settings appear on the MMI so right now i also have Automatic lights (set in medium) and DRL lights (ON) in the exterior lighting settings. Now i just would like the fog lights ti stay off during the CH/LH, could you give me any advice?

^^^^^^^ Try this: Leuchte12NL LB45 (left-side fog-light) Lichtfunktion C 12 > Coming Home oder Leaving Home aktiv (not active) Dimmwert CD 12 >127 (0) Leuchte13NL RB5 (right-side fog-light) Lichtfunktion C 13 > Coming Home oder Leaving Home aktiv (not active) Dimmwert CD 12 >127 (0)
The values in brackets above are the default values on your hex09 module - don't make my suggested changes if your car doesn't have the default values shown above!

Thanks for answering Don.after some changes in long coding i made it work but only coming home lights.leaving home doesn't work.i've set byte 6-bit1 active,byte7-bit 2,3 avtive,byte17- bit 2,3 active.what am i missing?

^ ^^^^ spirakis -why Byte 7, bit 2? According to my data, this Bit is Light switch via LIN Databus installed. The rotary light switch that you fitted does not use LIN protocol (it's directly connected to the BCM) Byte 17, Bits 2-3 not relevant to RLS Is Byte 7, Bit 5 set? Have you set the Leaving Home channels in the picture below? Don

^^^ Post-up a copy of the full long-code string on your central electrics module (i.e. the BCM @ address hex09) PLUS the long code string on your new RLFS
Also, what is the build year and model of your A3?

^^^ hmm........I'm not sure if it matters, but the RLHS on my MY18 A3 has long code = 00006C. Your long code value is 06006C - so Byte 0 is different (i.e. hex06=0000 0110). According to my database, Bit 1=Rain Light Function active and Byte 2=Rain closing active. You could try setting Byte 0=perhaps?

^^^ OK - try this: Go to the Central electrics module Select AdaptationSearch for Leuchte7ABL RB1 Select Lichtfunktion C 7 Only if setting is not active, change to Coming Home oder Leaving Home aktiv Select Dimmwert CD 7 Only id setting is 0, change to 127 for HID, or 100 for Halogen headlight Repeat for: Leuchte6ABL LC5Lichtfunktion C 6 > Coming Home oder Leaving Home aktiv Dimmwert CD 6 > 127 for HID, or 100 for Halogen headlight
This programs the low-beam lights as CH/LH
