Whenever the battery is disconnected, the ESP light switches on, on my Audi A3 8P. Apparently this is normal situation, and there are many solutions that do not work for my '03 (model year 2004) car. The only real solution seems to be, using VAG COM software. This expensive, so I bought OBDEleven. Apparently, this dongle/app have more or less the same possibilities. Here goes (I haven not finished). - Connect the OBDeleven software to the "NextGen" dongle, I use the Pro version. Connecting takes foreever. - Open the menu numbered 03 (Electronics/Brakes) - Open Adjustments (aanpassingen) - Select value 060 (you have to start with the steering angle sensor G85 - A list of login codes is shown, according to most manuals you have to select the top one "40168" and click on "ok". - Message is "(11) Function not available" - all other codes result in the same message - cancel - a screen, showing info about the G85 sensor is shown, not being able to edit, I am stuck

When i disconnect the battery and reconnect the car shows me some errors aswell. Normally i just start the car and drive for a bit and then all errors disappear. Turning the steering wheel full left and right is part of the procedure. I've never done any basic settings when i disconnected the battery.

This is a photo of the gauges when I bought my car. To get rid of the warning I did a couple of things: - disconnect the battery, drive around for lot's of km's, nothing - I found a movie explaining you had to star, press brake really hard, steer left, right, drive forward, result: nothing - Visit a ABS-pump repairshop, they diagnosed the pump and declared it healthy. The guy took a laptop with VCD on it, entered some values (basic setting) and the light went of, esp could be switched on/off via the button. A couple of weeks ago, the battery was dead (propably old), and guess what, settings were lost. So seeing the VCD prices, I bought OBDeleven Pro. Now my mission is to write a proper DIY to do the basic settings in a Audi A3 8P. If I tackle this, I will write some more tutorials. Here are some more details of my car:
